Airforce gifts have been a part of Patchogue, New York's history for many years. The first Air Force Base in the town was established in 1945 and the Air National Guard has continued to play an important role in our community ever since. Today, there are numerous Air Force bases and units located in Patchogue and its surrounding communities. These units provide training for both military and civilian members of the community. The Patchogue Air Force Base and its predecessor, the United States Army's Signal Corps Station Patchogue, were established in 1923. The base was activated on December 6, 1923 by Colonel Arthur S. Brownell as an airfield for the New York National Guard. It became a USAF station on October 1, 1948 when the USAAF was created. On July 16, 1951, the base became an operational USAF command center after its installation of a Waco-2 computer system at Fort Monmouth AFB in Long Island City. Inactivated on August 15, 2002 following the end of the Cold War and with no active duty military personnel stationed at Patchogue Airport anymore; it has been used as a civilian airport since then.
Patchogue, New York is a town in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population was 2,636 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Rochester–Newport News Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Patchogue" comes from the Nassau word "patches", meaning little pieces of land. The first permanent settler in what is now Patchogue was Nicholas Doherty who arrived in 1625 and did extensive farming around present-day Patchogue Harbor on Long Island Sound. Doherty's children were also colonists: Nicholas' son John Doherty settled here in 1686 and his grandson James Doherty moved here with his family in 1757. In 1812, George Washington passed through this area on his way to White Plains Junction where he rendezvoused with troops under General Philip Schuyler on their march to victory over Lord Howe at Battle of Bunker Hill. After the war ended, many farmers returned to their farms while others developed businesses in shipping and industry including lumbering, shipbuilding and tanning (the first tannery being built by Nicholas Doherty). In 1824, a group of men led by Captain Jonathan Edwards founded a store at Whitney Point which became one of the most important Natives Trading Postes on Long Island Sound until it closed its doors for good in 1906. A few years later, Captain David Levy established an academy for boys which still operates today as Wellesley Academy (). In 1830 Patchogue had 1 church and about 60 people; by 1881 it had 9 churches with more than 6000 residents (There were no doctors or dentists then so all dental work was done by local blacksmiths.) One reason why so many people came to this small town during this time period was because there were no other places to go on Long Island besides Kingston and Norwich where goods could be bought but not exported due to restrictions placed upon America by Great Britain . During World War I when munitions Production increased significantly across all sectors due to military necessity; locals helped produce munitions such as machineguns and artillery shells using their skills as milliners, hatters/hatcheters etc... Local production also fueled post-war reconstruction efforts throughout upstate New York especially during dam construction projects that required large quantities of lime needed for mortar manufacture... Some have suggested that local economy benefited greatly from both wartime production opportunities as well as postwar rebuilding efforts although there remains much debate surrounding these claims Some current estimates put the economic impact of WWII-era infrastructure development in Suffolk County at $3 billion dollars! This includes projects such as new bridges (like the Putnam Bridge), airports (Leesburg & Suffern), expressways (I-95 & I-395) and seaports (Yacht Haven Marina / Elizabethport). All told since 2003 Poughkeepsie’s economy has grown 12%. In fact since 2007 alone Poughkeepsie’s GDP per capita has increased 3%. What makes Patchogue unique compared to other towns located within similar areas is that its population growth rate has outpaced statewide average since 2000 while most other Towns have seen shrinking or even negative growth rates over this same timeframe! In short; there are countless reasons why Patchogue continuesto thrive despite Regional Economic Decline – something that must continue if we wish To stay competitive globally!

Patchogue, New York is a town in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. The town was first settled in 1795 and incorporated as a village in 1824. It became a town in 1898. Patchogue is located on the southern tip of Long Island and is bordered by the towns of Islip to the west, Southampton to the north, and Brookhaven to the east. The first Europeans to arrived in this area were French traders and missionaries who travelled through this region during the early eighteenth century. It wasn't until 1795 that land around present-day Patchogue was acquired by colonists from Connecticut via an act of Congress. At first the settlers used part of what is now Patchogue as their farmstead while they searched for more suitable land elsewhere on Long Island. By 1800 most of what is now Patchogue had been acquired including much of today's village center which still stands today thanks to its slow development over time In 1824, when Townsville and other villages on Long Island were consolidated into one municipality under acts passed by Congress following Indian removal from North America (the largest such event in American history), Patchogue remained separate from Townsville with a Board of Trustees responsible for its governance On April 14, 1898, after more than two centuries as a separate community governed by its own board of trustees, Patchogue became an incorporated village under New York State law. On July 1st 1957 it lost its charter as an incorporated village due to annexation by Brookhaven
