And so in 1984, the couple started Genevieve's Gun Shop on Main Street in Suffern. It would be a small shop, but it would serve as the foundation of their love affair with guns. From handguns to rifles, shotguns, and more, Genevieve's was the ultimate resource for anyone interested in owning a firearm. The store not only sold guns but also ammunition, knives, fishingtackle, and more. It was an important part of the community in which they lived and it was through the store that Genevieve met her future husband Alain. He worked at neighbouring company Watsons during those early years of their relationship; however, he never stopped coming into the store to buy rounds of ammo or cigars from Genevieve or chat about any kind of shooting interest she might have. This dedication to his wife-to-be is something that has continued through thick and thin throughout theirmarriage over 25 years! Through all this time there have been many changes within the gun industry - from semiautomatic pistols becoming more popular than ever before (a result of stricter laws being put in place after Columbine), to new types of bullets becoming available (such as .40 S&W). However,Genevieve's Gun Shop has remained consistent: selling quality firearms at affordable prices along with giving customers access to knowledgeable staff who can help them find what they're looking for. Suffern, New York is a town in Orange County, New York, United States. The population was 5,814 at the 2010 census. Suffern has been home to a Presbyterian church since 1693 and is one of the few towns in New York State that still retains an agricultural economy. The town was first settled in 1792 by Scots-Irish immigrants and their families who had come to work on the Peekskill Canal project. The community developed slowly until 1875, when it became an incorporated village. In 1881, Suffern became part of the newly created Town of Orange after its merger with other villages in Orange County. In 1922, Suffern's post office located on Main Street entered into receivership because of a financial scandal involving local politicians and developers; however, it reopened under new management two years later. In 1951 Suffern merged with neighboring Scarsdale to form the current town of Suffern-Scarsdale. This action helped spur economic development within the town which now boasts more than fifty businesses and six schools - three elementary schools and four high school classes - as well as several professional medical offices and restaurants.
