The Utica, New York Coast Guard was founded in 1846. The Coast Guard has a rich history that goes back to the days when the town of Utica was first settled on the Hudson River. The town became a stop on the Underground Railroad and it is said that many early leaders of the Coast Guard were fugitives from slavery. In 1865, Utica received its own ship, the SS Virginia, which served as a lighthouse and harbor guard until 1902. In 1898, Utica was renamed for Commodore George G. Sheppard, Commandant of the U.S. Naval Forces at Sea during World War I. From 1951-1973, Utica was home to Headquarters United States Coast Guard District Northeast before being moved to Newark, New Jersey in 1973.
Utica, New York is a town in the Towns of Utica and Oneida County, New York, United States. The population was 11,852 at the 2010 census. It is the smallest city in New York State. The first settler in Utica was John Tryon who arrived on July 24th 1785. For many years Utica was a small fishing village with only a few hundred residents. In 1814, when Genesee and Ontario Counties were united under one government, Utica became the capital of this new county and had a population of 10,000 people. Utica experienced rapid growth during the early 19th century due to its strategic location as a port on Lake Erie and its other natural resources such as coal and lumber. By 1830, Utica had become an important commercial center with over 100 businesses located in downtown including several banks and stores. In 1848-49, during the American Civil War, Utica played an important role in supporting Union troops by providing food and supplies for them while also housing soldiers stationed nearby. During World War II UtICA sheltered more than 50000 Allied troops from Nazi Germany through Operation Overlord which included air raids against German targets throughout upstate New York City (the bombing raid that killed over seventy people). After the war ended Ortigas began to experience increased development due to two factors: high demand for services provided by their new citizens; as well as investment from outside investors who saw potential for Utika's infrastructure to be used more efficiently following lessons learned from post-war America. This led to significant job growth throughout Ortigas' various departments including marketing research or information technology until it peaked at nearly 50% in 2000; however since then there has been modest job growth (-5%) while rents have continue to rise (+60%). Despite this trend of stagnation Employment levels are slowly rising but still below pre-recession levels due Asphalt plants have closed down all across Upstate NY due largely to low Load Factors; truckers refuse crossings into city limits now because they can make better money driving out into central NY etc.; making it difficult for bothemployedandunemployedtoqualifyforjobsinthecityetc... Despite some challenges faced by Ortigas' economy - primarily related to low load factor conditions at asphalt plants - it continues to make significant strides forward thanks mostly to strong leadership from CEO Arnulfo Gomez along with his team of dedicated employees – working hard every day despite challenging times

Utica, New York is a town in Erie County, New York, United States. The population was 10,752 at the 2010 census. It is the second-largest town in Erie County after Buffalo. Utica is bordered by the towns of Canandaigua to the north and west and Hamburg to the south. The first settlers in Utica were farmers who arrived from Connecticut in 1795. They built a log cabin on what is now Park Avenue and Corn Exchange Road. In 1802, they founded the town of Utica on land that had been granted to them by Governor George Clinton. The first courthouse was erected in 1806 at what is now Elm Street and Main Street. In 1809, Utica became a city under the new state constitution which gave cities such as Buffalo more power than villages. Utica's growth began during its early years as an agricultural center with one of its earliest industries being canning food products. The canning industry declined during World War II but has since revived with increased demand for fresh vegetables and fruits grown close to home. Today, Utica's economy relies heavily upon research and development activities within its many corporations including IBM, Monsanto, Coca ColaCola Bottling Company (CCB), Dell Computer Corporation (DELL), Symantec Corporation (SYM) and Intel Corporation (INTC). Today's downtown area includes several dozen businesses including banks; law firms; health care providers; restaurants; casinos; parking garages; theaters; office space; numerous small stores and restaurants as well as two large convention centers which house both local government entities such as police departments and school districts as well as major international conferences each year
