The history of maga coffee is a long and complex one. It started as a small, artisanal coffee house in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, in the early 1900s. The first magas were made from whole beans roasted on site. Over time, however, roasting methods and equipment improved, and by the late 1920s most Argentine magas were produced using an espresso machine. As global trade grew more sophisticated in the 1930s and 1940s, many Argentines began to import Italian-made espresso machines into their country. As these machines became more popular, so too did Argentine maga coffee become associated with Italian-style espresso drinks (and subsequently lost its distinctive flavor). However, even though Argentinean maga coffee became increasingly associated with European-style espresso drinks during this time period, it continued to be brewed using an old bean roast method known as "huevo". This method uses whole beans roasted at low temperatures over a slow fire which gives the beans their characteristic sweet and nutty flavor profile. Eventually impressive technological advances led to wider production of cafe Maga coffee all over South America. By the late 1960smagas had evolved into what we know today - high quality specialty coffees that are enjoyed by collectors around the world.

The Duke of Newcastle donated land for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1871 and the university was founded that year. In 1925, Durham became an official state capital and has since been the center of government for both North Carolina and the United States.
