The Havelock Rifle and Pistol Club has been shooting for over 100 years. The club began organizing shoots in 1892, when it was the only place in the area that could hold a rifle match. Today, we continue to offer shooters opportunities to participate in competitive matches as well as shoot demonstrations and genealogy meetings. We also offer target practice, duck hunting, and other fun activities for our members. One of the club's most popular features is our annual Mid-America Shooting Championship (MAC). Held at various locations around the country, MAC offers shooters the opportunity to compete against other clubs from across America. This year's event will be held on Saturday, September 15th in Fort Worth, Texas. This year's field includes some of the latest firearms designs and technologies so you can experience firsthand how these rifles perform under real live conditions. In addition to challenging yourself with competition/shootin' challenges you'll have an amazing opportunity to meet some really cool people along the way!

Havelock is a town in Robeson County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,965 at the 2010 census. The community of Haverhill was incorporated in 1881. The first white settler in what is now Havelock was Samuel Gregg, who built a log cabin on the present site of the town in 1784. In 1824 Elijah Hicks moved to Havelock from Ararat (now Myrtle Beach), South Carolina and opened a store there. He also served as mayor from 1827 to 1830 and 1840 to 1851. In 1865 Abraham Lincoln was born in nearby Hickory Hill; his parents were John Fenton Lincoln and Mary Todd Lincoln. His granduncle Edward Everett Hale also lived in Havelock at that time. A post office called "Haverhill" was established at Havelock on November 8, 1871, by Leland Stanford junior; it remained open until 1888. In 1886 John Dyer erected a frame building which became known as the old courthouse; it burned down in 1907 and not rebuilt until 1967. The first schoolhouse for students in what is now Havelock was built by Gifford Lewis around 1800. It burned down during an Indian raid in 1800 but was replaced by another structure soon afterward. A school-house/church complex existed on the present site of the town from about 1830 to 1865 when it burned down due to weather damage caused by Hurricane Andrew). Many early residents raised crops or raised livestock near their homes before moving into town proper where they started businesses such as stores and blacksmiths etc., making this an important center of commerce for much of eastern North Carolina during its early years."
