The Marines of Lewisville, North Carolina have been deployed in many different ways throughout the years. In 1912, it became an artillery regiment and then a Marine battalion in 1915. The battalion was disbanded in 1917 but reactivated as a Marine brigade in 1919. It served as one of two brigades during World War II before being disbanded again in 1945. In 1951, the Marines were re-activated as a rifle company and placed into operational status at Camp Lejeune. They served at Camp Lejeune until 1957 when they moved to Okinawa where they served until 1961. They then returned to Japan where they remained until 1966 when they rejoined USMC service at Lewisville Depot for another 5 years of continuous deployments through 1975-1978. This is also when marines adopted their current name - TheLewisville Marines - which remains with them today!
