Lewisville is a small town located in the state of North Carolina. The population was 5,021 at the 2010 census. Lewisville is bordered by Chapel Hill to the north, Durham to the east, and Cary to the south. It is located just northwest of Raleigh and about 20 miles from both Charlotte and Durham. The first permanent settler in what would become Lewisville was James Denton in 1796. He built a log cabin on land he purchased from Colonel John Johnston. Denton named his settlement after his father-in-law, General Thomas Lewis who had fought in the American Revolution as a colonel with George Washington’s army. In 1819, Captain John Nance established a post office at what is now called Nance Station on Waco Road (now Ulysses S Grant Boulevard). Lewisville became an incorporated town on December 12, 1892. The community site for Lewisville was primarily along Waco Road but it soon grew into a large village with over 100 buildings including churches and schools. In 1922, King Cotton became one of America’s largest cotton exports when he brought 1 million pounds of cotton to America from Africa via shipport in Wilmington, NC; this made Lewisville one of America’s leading cotton ports. As trade shifted away from slave-based production towards mechanization and exporting products such as textiles and apparel, many jobs were lost in rural areas throughout America during this period; however, job growth occurred rapidly in downtownLewisville which continued until around 1970 when technology changed many manufacturing processes including papermaking which eliminated most jobs in downtown Lewisville entirely thereby causing much economic decline over that time period

Lewisville is a city in Wilson County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 25,898 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Wilson County. Lewisville is located on the Pee Dee River and is named after General Lewis Williamson who fought in the American Revolution. The first permanent settler in what would become Lewisville was Jno. Denton in 1785. In 1821 John Gorman built a log cabin on what is now State Route 66 about two miles west of present-day Lewisville. Gorman's cabin served as the nucleus for much of what would become Lewisville over time: he raised cotton, hunted game, and developed land around his cabin for farming purposes. In 1845 Abraham Boyd moved to Lewisville from Coupon and began trading goods with Indian tribes along the Pee Dee River. By 1850 Boyd had organized a store and post office here which became known as "Boyd's Landing". In 1862 Confederate General Braxton Bragg landed his army at Boyd's Landing and advanced toward Raleigh; this event led to heavy fighting near town between Confederate forces and Union troops before eventually withdrawing to Greensboro. A train stop called "The depot" was established at present-day Interstate 95 and US 65/ 30 south of town in 1922 when the then new NC Highway 95 was completed east from Winston-Salem through Wilson County into Johnston County (the precursor to today's Charlotte). The Depot served as a point where trains coming from Charlotte went off onto I-95 past town before turning back onto NC Highway 95 for their way back home; it remains one of only a few such stops remaining in North Carolina history today!
