The early plantations that grew coffee were often small and did not have the resources to roast larger amounts of beans. As the industry grew more complex, however, larger plantations became better able to produce quality beans for sale throughout the colony. In 1853, a large plantation named Johnston was bought by James Fenton from Daniel Boone. This allowed Fenton to expand his production so he could sell his beans all over the colonies. Soon after, other companies joined forces with Fenton to form what is now known as The Bean Company (now JF Coffee). The Moorestown Plantation was a large plantation in North Carolina. The property was owned by John Moore, who built the house on the property in 1798. The house is still standing and is used as a museum today. JohnMoore was a wealthy man and he had many slaves. Some of his slaves were very famous for their work on the plantation. One of these slaves was named Patrick Henry. Patrick Henry helped to create the American Revolution and he is considered one of the most important people in that event. Patrick Henry also became well-known for his speeches and he made some really powerful statements about government corruption and abuse of power. He also helped to start the movement against slavery in America.

In 1886, a group of businessmen pooled their money to open the first major grocery store in Washington D.C., which led to the birth of Roastery Coffee. Although Mooresville was founded in 1795, its history dates back to the time of the Cherokee. The town was named for General John Moore, who served as a brigadier general in the Creek War. He also helped found and lead the First Regiment of North Carolina Volunteers, which fought in the American Revolution. Afterward, Moore's home became known as Moore's Fort. In 1824, he donated land to form what is now Mooresville College. The college has been located here since 1847. In 1901, President McKinley designated Mooresville as a town within the United States. That year saw construction on what is nowMooresville High School begin. The school was completed in 1903 and remains one of the most popular among students today. Additionally, Mooresville has been home to many other businesses and organizations over the years including two banks (the first being First National Bank), a post office (1849-1901), an amusement park (1902-2002), and numerous churches and mosques all dating back to before 1800 AD!
