Smithfield, North Carolina is a town located in Gastonia County, North Carolina. The population was 11,752 at the 2010 census. Smithfield is one of the largest and most important coffee towns in the United States. It has been home to many famous small-scale roasters and cafes over the years, including Joe's Coffee Roasters and Peet's Coffee Co. The town also produces its own type of coffee called "baked beans." The first cafe in Smithfield was founded by John Denton in 1872. At that time, it was only a small grocery store with a few customers. Over the next few years, Denton started to make his own coffee from scratch and sell it from his store. In 1876, he opened what would become known as Joe's Coffee Roasters - one of the first small-scale roasters in America. John Denton passed away in 1902 but his legacy lives on through his son John Jr., who continues to run Joe's Coffee Roasters today. His father had also been an early investor in Peet's Coffee Company - which became one of America's leading coffee companies after opening its first shop in 1927. In 1968, Peet merged with Dutch Schultz's American Tobacco Company - making him one of the largest tobacco executives ever! He died two years later at age 90 after a long career at American Tobacco! During these early days of Smithfield’s coffee history there were only a handful of businesses brewing coffee here – all focused on selling roasted beans direct to consumers rather than distributors or retailers like we do now. However, over time more and more people began moving into this quaint little town for sure – whether it be because they could find great customer service or because they simply loved good coffee! With so many different businesses starting up around town soon after World War II ended (including several large roasters), it can be hard to determine just how influential each individual player really was within the community during this particular period; however some key players include: Joes' dad (John Denton), Dutch Schultz (founder of American Tobacco), Bob Swartzwelder (president/CEO of Local Foods Marketing Cooperative Inc.), Dick Greenstein (chief financial officer/administrator) & Larry Snitzer (director marketing). But even without those individuals directly involved; there are countless memories & stories associated with Herb Kelleher (& crew) running our favorite Joes Café back then; hosting live music every Sunday morning throughout college football season (& pregame!), putting on freeFeet parties for troops stationed nearby (*cough* cough), working day & night stocking shelves at Local Foods Marketing Cooperative Inc., helping out friends & family during holiday seasons etc… And don't forget about any special occasions such as Fourth Of July BBQs or Father’s Day celebrations – all done without any special equipment! All things considered – pretty darn impressive stuff indeed!

The first coffee beans were roasted here in 1849, and the town became known for its quality beans. Today, Smithfield continues to produce high-quality coffee and sell it throughout the Southeast.

Smithfield is a small town in North Carolina. The population was 8,651 at the 2010 census. It is located in Haywood County, just east of Asheville. Smithfield is known for its pork products and other agricultural products. The first Europeans to visit Smithfield were Frenchmen who arrived in 1609. They traded with the natives and discovered that there was a large market for pork in the area. The British also visited Smithfield during this time and found that it was an important center for trade between North America and Europe. The first mill on the site of present-day Smithfield was built in 1750 by James Blair from Scotland. By 1810, there were several mills operating around Smithfield. The first store opened in 1811, and the first cotton gin was built in 1813 by John Stevenson from Tennessee. In 1865, the Union Pacific Railroad reached Smithfield and began carrying passengers and cargo to nearby Asheville. This allowed for more than one mill to operate at any time, which caused some residents to move away from the small town during this period of growth. In 1907, Wm Hargrave started marketing his newly developed hog feedstock here called "Hog Eye". This feedstock helped increase production at several mills within days after being shipped into town via railcars piled high with hay bales (henceforth referred to as "Hog Train"). In 1925, local butcher Jno Hardwick opened his own hog slaughterhouse adjacent to his meatpacking plant which led to increased demand for hog products throughout South Carolina and beyond due to improved transportation methods available at that time! In 1951-1952 Willis Drysdale operated a machine shop on Church Street which produced metal components used in many major auto factories across America during this time! In 1960-1961 Joe Gibbs bought out Willis Drysdale's share of the business operations resulting in what is now known as Joe Gibbs Incorporated! During this time period much development occurred within the community including new housing developments such as Pineview Meadows (now part of Weaverville) erected specifically catering towards farmer's families who had long been unable or unwilling to build their own homes; a shopping mall - First Baptist Church Plaza - constructed on land donated by Mrs Jane Addams; additions/modifications made both inside/outside of existing churches; numerous schools were established; world champions thoroughbreds like Kentucky Derby winner Northern Dancer were brought into our community through research projects conducted by State College students working under Drs Weinstock & McCoy while attending SC Tech...the list could go on indefinitely! Today's economy has seen significant growth thanks largely to Third World famine relief organizations giving us access again not onlyto these valuable commodities but also jobs providing health benefits thereby reducing poverty amongst our citizens...Thank you all!!!

In fact, some of the most famous brands in the world today are founded by small-scale entrepreneurs who continue to produce delicious artisanal coffee products. Some key examples include Prima Donna Coffee Roasting Company in Brooklyn, New York City; Blue Bottle Coffee in Berkeley, California; and Stumptown Coffee Roasters in Portland, Oregon.
