The Tarboro Coast Guard Station was established in 1922 and has been providing coast guard services to the community of Tarboro since then. Since its inception, the Coast Guard Station has played an important role in the community by providing essential safety and security for residents and visitors. In 2013, the station became a part of United States Coast Guard Academy’s sorority sisterhood program, Kappa Alpha Theta. As part of this affiliation, members from both stations donated items such as cups, mugs and more to celebrate fall season at UACC. This donation helped support many local philanthropic endeavors throughout the year.

Tarboro, North Carolina is a town located in Craven County, North Carolina. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Craven County. The town was founded in 1755 by settlers from Yorktown, Virginia. Tarboro has been a focal point for cultural and civic activity since its founding. The town became a stop on the Underground Railroad during the early 19th century. Tarboro also played an important role in the history of Christianity in America. In 1892, Tarboro was chosen as the site of what would eventually become UNC-Chapel Hill.
The Coast Guard was founded on April 15, 1915 as the United States Coast Guard. It became a separate branch of the U.S. Armed Forces in 1917 and was made an independent branch of the Department of Defense in 1949. The Coast Guard is responsible for safeguarding our nation’s coasts and waters, providing coastal security and rescue services, performing search and rescue operations, conducting law enforcement activities, and more. The history of coast guard gift giving can be traced back to at least 1911 when a group of friends from New York City pooled their money to buy a small boat called the USS Constitution (CV-12). This boat served as both a patrol vessel and tourist attraction until 1932 when it was requisitioned by the Army for use as a troop transport. The Coast Guard purchased additional Constitutions between 1937-1941. Due to World War II, however, the Coast Guard saw its largest deployment since BEFORE WORLD WAR II when it became involved in Operation Neptune’s Spear which aimed to stop Japanese submarine activity off California beaches during the height of the war effort. The following year saw another large expansion with purchases of two new ships – USCGC(L) Stonington (AG64) and USCGC(L) Mason (AG65). These vessels were equipped with sonar systems that would allow them to detect submarines while they were surfaced making them difficult targets for enemy submarines which had become increasingly common during this time period. Tarboro was an important settlement in North Carolina early in its history. The town was founded by Colonel John Johnston and his family in 1775, after the British burned down the original settlements at Ninety Mile Point and Tryonville. The Johnston brothers were among the first white settlers in what is now Tarboro. By 1800, Tarboro had a population of about 350 people. A Presbyterian church was built there in 1827, became a Baptist church in 1830, and then a Methodist church in 1876. In 1865, Confederate General Jubal Early crossing the Nantahala River into North Carolina passed through Tarboro on his way to Gettysburg. After the war, many Tarboros returned to their homes and businesses. In 1895, much of Tarboro closed because of an outbreak of tuberculosis that killed many residents including Colonel John Johnston Sr., Jr.. Many local businesses reopened during this time but most notably the First United Methodist Church which continued to be operational until 1978. One significant event from this period took place when Dr erectionist Dr JB White opened up surgery center called White Memorial Hospital which would become one of largest medical facilities east of the Mississippi River The decline and demolition of historic structures began soon after World War II as factories moved away from rural America for more production space outside of major cities like New York City or Chicago; however some notable buildings such as Olde Masonic Lodge still stand today serving as popular tourist attractions Since Reconstruction era African Americans had been working mainly on small farms or servant runs throughout eastern North Carolina while whites milled flour or bought slaves for labor on large plantations; gradually these services were replaced by unionsized manufacturing jobs due to technological advances starting with plant utilization through automation-made goods could now be produced cheaply anywhere with little human input-making it increasingly difficult for blacks to maintain their traditional sphere within society After World War II things changed again when organized labor gained strength across various industries due largely to state assistance programs (such as low interest rates on federal loans) following WWII; however not all blue collar jobs were immediately translated into unionization given that few people owned industrial machines This led eventually to increased tension between black workers and management over pay and benefits
