PEC was then acquired by Beanwood Trading Company which continued operations until 2000 when it merged with Legacy Coffee Co-op to become Legacy Bean & Tea Incorporated (LBEI). LBEI currently operates as our flagship store in downtown Tarboro! The Tarboro Coffee Company was founded in 1861 by Captain John H. Forney and his wife, Marie. The Forneys were originally from North Carolina and started a small grocery store on the corner of High Street and State Road 128 in Tarboro. In 1875, they moved to their current location, which is now known as theCaptain John H. Forney Mansion. The Forneys ran the coffee company until its closure in 1973.
Tarboro is a small town in North Carolina, located within the Granville County seat of Johnstown. The population was 1,817 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Raleigh-Durham metropolitan area. The town was founded by Scots-Irish immigrants in 1768 as a plantation settlement on the Yadkin River near where it now stands. By 1830, Tarboro had become an important commercial and cultural center in eastern North Carolina due to its location onthe major route from Wilmington to Raleigh and beyond. In 1838, while Tarboro's founders were attending a peaceable gathering at Tryon Palace, they were attacked by Native Americans led by Chief Red Eagle. Eleven people were killed, most of whom were tarried overnight outside the palace before being burned alive by their attackers. This event helped initiate the Indian Wars which continued until 1851 when General Andrew Jackson signed Treaty No. 10 ending the hostilities

Tarboro, North Carolina is a small town in the eastern part of the United States. It was founded in 1795 by Elisha K. Goodrich and his family, who were pioneers in what is now Tarboro County. The Goodrich family operated a ferry service from Tarboro to nearby Wilmington until 1824. The town was known for its tobacco production until World War II when it switched to other crops such as corn and soybeans. Since then, Tarboro has become an important node in the Appalachian Trail network and has been home to many notable people, including musician Willie Dixon and author James Baldwin.
In 1692, the area now known as Tarboro was part of the Colony of Carolina. The colony was founded by Governor John Rutherford in 1689. The town was named for General James Tarleton, who served in the English military during the American Revolution. In 1707, a group of settlers led by Colonel George Washington arrived in Tarboro and built a small Chapel on High Street. The town grew steadily until it had a population of over 100 people in 1751 when it became part of Chowan County. In 1837, Tarboro was chartered as an incorporated city. It initially consisted of just a few homes and businesses along High Street but soon developed into one of the largest towns in north Carolina with a population of over 500 people by 1860. The city experienced rapid growth during Reconstruction and even went so far as to annex neighboring communities such as New Bern and Wilmington to become its own municipality. However, following the end of Reconstruction in 1865, Tarboro slowly declined until it reached its current state by the early 21st century. Today, most citizens live within close proximity to their jobs or homes which makes for an enjoyable lifestyle despite some occasional issues such as high crime rates or difficult access to medical care.
