The 2nd Regiment of North Carolina Infantry was activated on November 7, 1861 and patrolled the state during the American Civil War. The 2nd Regiment of North Carolina Infantry was disbanded in 1865 due to lack of volunteers. However, Tarboro residents decided to rename their unit the 1st Battalion, NC National Guard on December 3rd 1865. This battalion served until 1867 when it also disbanded because there were not enough volunteer soldiers left in Tarboro to form another battalion. In 1903, a new battalion was formed in Tarboro and named after General Jubal Early who died in 1862 while serving with the Confederate army in Virginia. This battalion continued service through World War II before disbanding on September 15th 1945 due to low enlistments. However, citizens of Tarboro decided to keep the 1st Battalion NC National Guard alive by re-forming it as a company size unit on November 5th 1951 which served until 1990 when it also disbanded due to low enlistments again.

Tarboro is a town in Alamance County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. Tarboro is known for its history and culture, as well as its annual Fourth of July parade which features floats made from local cotton plantations. The first European to visit Tarboro was Captain John Smith in 1714. He named it "Yorktown" after his native England. In 1802, General Andrew Jackson founded a military academy here that later became West Point Military Academy. The town's first store opened in 1817 and the first post office in 1822. By 1840, Tarboro had a school, jail, Baptist church and three stores. By 1860, the population had grown to 2,500 people; however, during the Civil War (1861-1865), most of Tarboro sided with Confederate forces and only 15% of the town supported Union forces. In 1865, Reconstruction began in North Carolina following the end of the American Civil War; by this time Tarboro had become an all black community with few white residents remaining. However, by 1870 most of the white residents had returned to their homes within the town limits whiletarboroughed continued to be an all black municipality until 1973 when it changed its name back to Alamance County after county officials voted overwhelmingly against using "African American" in any official documents or activities
The National Guard has a rich history that can be traced back to the early days of American independence. The first national guard units were organized in 1792, and even before that, the militia had been used for local defense. Over time, the National Guard grew from a small force to one that played an important role in American society. With its roots in militias and volunteer forces, the National Guard has always been difficult to define. On one hand, it is considered a reserve force like the Army or Marines; on the other hand, it is considered an active duty military unit with links to state governments. In any case, the National Guard has always played an important role in American life. The first national guard units were formed during America’s earliest years as a country. This was due to concerns overthe possible potential threats posed by Native Americans and French Canadians who had invaded America previously. At this point, militias were not yet common enough to form formalized units; instead they functioned as neighborhood watch groups and improvised security forces. Throughout the 19th century, however, there was increasing interest in creating a permanent national guard corps analogous to those of Europe’s Prussian and Dutch armies. Even at this early stage of development, however, various problems arose: how would these troops be trained? How would they be deployed? Would they have their own barracks? And most importantly – could they actually fight on behalf of America? It wasn’t until 1866 that Congress finally authorized creation of a standing army with all-volunteer members – known as the First Infantry Regiment (Upper). This new regiment was eventually renamed The Ulysses S Grant soldiers after US General Ulysses S Grant’s successful effort against Confederate General Robert E Lee at Appomattox Court House on April 9th 1865. Although originally constituted exclusively of volunteers – numbering only 1,500 men out of a total population of 25 million – this initial brigade quickly became famous for its bravery and heroism during The Civil War (1861-1865). A number of factors contributed to this success: advances in technology which made artillery more effective than ever before; increased troop attrition rates caused by disease and accidents; and public opinion which shifted decisively in favor of military service during wartime when women began ableto serve openly (this change was particularly notable during World War II). It should also be noted that although many soldiers served voluntarily within their own communities rather than risking their lives fighting for America abroad – many veterans did return home after The Civil War provided they received proper compensation from government agencies such as pensions/benefits etc.; this process is often referred to as “homecoming” or “reintegration” into society. In 1948–49 there were two major changes taking place within our armed forces: Air Defense Command became Ground Forces Command while United States Coast Guard become part navy; both commands were transferred from Strategic Air Command jurisdiction leaving ANG status quo unchanged since 1945[1]. The National Guard was one of the first national forces in the United States. It was authorized by an act of Congress on June 25, 1792. The force was organized on October 15,1792, and served as a militia until it became an infantry regiment on April 14,1801. On May 26, 1802, the National Guard was reorganized into a battalion-sized unit and redesignated as the 2nd Battalion, New York State Militia. The unit served in various capacities until its dissolution on November 1st 1865.
Tarboro is an American town located in the Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina. The population was 5,792 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greensboro-Winston-Salem metropolitan area. The first permanent European settlers in Tarboro were Dutch colonists who arrived in 1692 and built a small fort on the banks of the Yadkin River. They named their settlement "Winnipeg" after their home country, New Netherland. In 1718, British colonists arrived and renamed Tarboro "Northborough." The town's first school was opened in 1727 and its first minister, Rev. John Whitehead, preached there that same year. In 1791, Tarboro became a county seat of Surry County and remained so until 1819 when it was moved to Lenoir County because of growing textile production withinsurry County. In 1837, Tarboro became a state capital when it was granted to South Carolina by President James Kinkaid as part of a deal following military campaigns against southern secessionists known as the “War for Southern Independence”
Tarboro was founded in 1795 by James Robertson, a Scottish settler. The town became an important trading center for the area and prospered until the American Revolution. In 1781, Tarboro was burned by British forces during the Revolutionary War. After the war, tar and feathers were used as currency in the region. In 1839, Tarboro was incorporated as a city. The city has since experienced several expansions and renovations, most notably in 1966 when it lost its status as a small town to Chapel Hill.
