The Coast Guard has been in Thomasville, North Carolina since 1917. The Coast Guard Station was established in 1917 as the first Coastal Defense Station in the United States. The station was located on the current site of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. In 1951, the Coast Guard Station moved to its present location and began providing maritime security services along the Eastern seaboard of the US. In 1994, an addition to the station was built which became known as “The Tower”. The tower is used for weather observation and provides avernal protection for Thomasville residents and local businesses during normal winter weather conditions. In 1996, a new pier facility was built adjacent to The Tower onshore land that is used primarily for boat docking and storage. A new marina also opened within this property in 2006 that includes slips, Marina Publix store, transient lodging, showers/ restrooms and a waterpark.

Thomasville is a city in Forsyth County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 25,811 at the 2010 census. Thomasville is the county seat of Forsyth County and home to the University of North Carolina at Thomasville. It was founded by John Pemberton in 1836 as a small community on the Weldon River. In 1865, it became the county seat of Forsyth County after it was moved from Enfield to central Forsyth County following a proposal by Confederate General Robert E Lee. The town of Thomasville was platted in 1836 by John Pemberton and named for his ancestor, Colonel Thomas Pemberton who had fought with General Francis Marion against Indian forces at Kings Mountain in 1781. The first store opened on the corner of High Street and Bethel Road in 1838. The town grew rapidly due to its position on the Weldon River which led to rapid development including roads, schools, churches and businesses. By 1860, there were over 100 residents living in what is now downtown Thomasville. A courthouse/ jail complex was built east of High Street between 1853 and 1861 when local farmers petitioned for government assistance to improve their water supplies during times of drought caused by heavy rainfallfalls around that time period In 1865, after having been moved from Enfield to central Forsyth County following a proposal by Confederate General Robert E Lee due to concerns about its potential as an open-air market target for hostile Union forces occupying eastern NC ,Thomasville become county seat In 1969 African American citizens disrupted white-only prayer services at Central Methodist Church resulting in six arrests; however this did not dampen community spirit or Sparkman's plans for black commercialization

The goal was to provide an effective fighting force on the high seas against piracy and other threats to maritime safety. Gift giving continued to be important during World War II when many servicemen were away at war. Soldiers returning home would often bring back souvenirs from their deployments- such as postcards from friends in Europe- which could then become later presents for family members or friends who worked on shore assignments while they were gone (e.g., Petty Officer 2nd Class Tomazio). The popularity of postal service through Christmas led to even more requests for Coast Guard gift items during wartime; examples include saltire flags, candy bars and soap operas mailed through the mail! During peacetime there is usually no need for special occasion clothing as individual personnel uniforms are typically stored at Headquarters along with other items related to Commissioning Day activities including insignia, tools and equipment etcetera (just like any other organization). However, if there is an event scheduled outside normal Command staff hours that requires wearing uniforms inside Headquarters (e.g., Parade), then extra clothing may need to be ordered in advance especially if it is a festive occasion such as New Year’s Eve or Christmastime! A few years ago there was another request from Headquarters staff- this time for parcels larger than usual postage stamps! As demand increased for gifting within Headquarters itself (~100 parcels per month now!), special courier services hadtobe set up specifically for handling large shipments! This has resulted in some amazing donations such as stoves made into lamps complete with built-in heaters (something new even for Departmental personnel) along with fantastic pieces such as guitarsrarely seen before being gifted along with full documentation proving ownership/ Use! How often do these kinds of gifts make it into our everyday lives? It’s truly something special when we receive them…and remember,- Gift Giving isn’t just about giving but also receiving!!

Thomasville is a town in Bertie County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Charlotte–Mecklenburg Area. The current site of Thomasville was first settled by two brothers in 1772. The original land grant to these brothers was four rods square, and it took them several years to build their house on this grant. They named their settlement "Tommytown" after one of their sons, Tommy (whose given name had not yet been established). In 1812, when the U.S. Military forced Cherokee chief John Ross from his home at Muscogee Fork River in what is now Cherokee County, North Carolina, he removed his people to Tomcotton Landing on the Yadkin River near Thomasville. From there they journeyed westward under military escort across the mountains and into Tennessee before finally returning home in 1815. In 1830–31 Daniel Boone moved his family from Roanoke Rapids to what is now Thomasville and founded a small community here called Boone's Station which became an important transportation center for early settlers moving through Bertie and Durham counties. By 1840 many other families had followed suit and built up around Boone's Station until more than twenty-five hundred residents lived in what is now downtown Thomasvilleoung town park district encompassing much of downtown along with smaller neighborhoods outside of it were incorporated as separate municipalities during that era including: Burnside Heights (1876), Highland Park (1910), Liberty Oaks (1920), Vine Street Annexe (1928), Independence Square (1948) and Central Avenue Annexe (1960). Downtown streetcar service began operations on November 16th 1870 via Pullman Row from Elizabeth City limits just east of Main Street where passengers boarded streetcars at Elmwood Cemetery before transferring to electric cars running south down Main Street towards downtown One persistent feature throughout all these transformations have been high intensity light displays mounted on city hall tower/parkside while Likewise large scale concerts are staged annually during late summer or autumn weekend giving traditional Fireworks displays over Drumoccrie Creek every nightfall following major events like Thanksgiving Day Parade or Christmas Eve Dinner Celebration Thompsonsville has long been known as "the Showplace Of The South" due to its production values as well as its contributions both locally and nationally in music publishing; stage production; motion picture making; various creative arts; architecture; engineering; real estate development

The town grew rapidly due to its location on the Catawba River, and in 1827, it became the county seat of Rutherford County. In 1892, it was renamed for General Ulysses S.
