In 1845, Thomasville incorporated as a village when it surpassing 3200 people in size required by state law governing villages at that time. That year saw major construction projects such as the founding of a school system and new roads which would later be vital for trade with surrounding communities like Cary and Raleigh during the Gilded Age boom period. By 1860, there were over 11800 people living in Thomasville according to US Census results from that year - more than any other municipality within Forsyth County at that time!
