Jenson also donation $50000 to help build Memorial Stadium which hosted football games during World War II before being torn down in 1951 due to budget limitations set by then-Mayor Edward Rolph). The late 1800s were a time when many businesses closed because people were out working during the war or lacked enough money to live comfortably without work. However, business started up again after reconstruction began in earnest following World War I and soon after placed grandeur back into downtown GrandForks once again as businesses flocked back into town from across North Dakota and beyond (the area became known as “Granite City”).
