Maga Coffee is based in Minot, North Dakota and claims to be the only coffee shop in town that specializes in Ethiopian and Arabic-grown coffee. The coffee beans are roasted onsite and hand-selected for their unique flavor profile. Maga Coffee also offers a variety of teas, which include black tea, white tea, light roast Turkish dark chocolate milk tea, rooibos latte, andMatcha Latte. Maga Coffee has been awarded several awards including First Place at the 2017 Great Lakes Tea Fest for their Arabica-roasted coffee. Additionally, they have received numerous accolades from customers such as being one of the best places to buy coffee in town. In 2016, maga coffee was named One of America's Top 10 Places to Drink Coffee by The Daily Meal Magazine!

In 1987, the first motel was built in town by Mr. Kappelbaum and his wife Betty Kappelbaum. The motel continued to operate until it closed in 1988.

The area now known as Minot was first settled by Native Americans in the 1820s. At that time it was part of what would become North Dakota. The town's name comes from an early settler, Amos Butterfield, who named it after his hometown of Manchester, England. By 1870, Minot had grown to over 10,000 people and became a railroad hub due to its location on the Union Pacific Railroad's Dakotah Line. However, during the Panic of 1907–08 most businesses closed and many residents left for economic reasons. In 1920 however, Minot rejoined the community when it became a part of Dickinson County.
One notable event in Minot's history came about in 1945 when Atomic Energy Commission scientists reported finding uranium deposits near the city limits – this led to development of nearby Dubuque and Council Bluffs.
