West Fargo is a town in Ramsey County, North Dakota, United States. The population was 7,059 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Ramsey County. The name "Fargo" originated from nearby Fort Pierre. The town of Fargo was established in 1873 as a post office and small ranching community on the riverbank near present-day Fargo. In 1906, it became a city when the towns of Dickinson and Mitchell merged to form the city of Fargo. The first West Fargo garage opened in 1915.
