Lancaster, Ohio is known as the "Marine Capital of the World" and has a rich maritime history dating back to when settlers first arrived in this community in 1810. The area was originally part of the Great Lakes region and was home to various fishing communities that thrived during what is now known as the “Great Lakes Fishery Panic” of 1837-38. This led to a decline in fishing activity and a resultant increase in shipping traffic which caused dockside congestion and limited access to resources for local fishermen. In 1911, Lancaster became the first city on the Ohio River to prohibitladen sailboats from docking at its waterfront. This decision helped save downtown from being destroyed by an onslaught of sailboats during the early days of riverboat travel. The ban helped preserve traditional river commerce while also providing access for larger vessels that could not operate downriver without entering through port cities. During World War II, Lancaster became one of several American cities that supplied materials needed for war production such as munitions, ships, etc. As manufacturing shifted from agriculture into industry, Lancaster saw a rapid growth in jobs within shipbuilding and other related industries. Today, Lancaster is home to two major shipyards - P&O Shipbuilding Company Ltd., which builds large commercial vessels; and Newport News Shipbuilding & Drydock Inc., which manufactures submarines and other naval vessels. Lancaster's maritime heritage continues today with many events taking place throughout the year honoring local maritime traditions including: Maritime Day (March 5), Seafood Festival (May 17), Rotary International Fleet Week (August 15-22) and Independence Day ( July 4).

Lancaster, Ohio is a town in Butler County, Ohio, United States. The population was 11,865 at the 2010 census. Lancaster is the county seat of Butler County. The first settlers in what is now Lancaster were Loyalists who fled to Canada during the American Revolution. In 1797, the Trustees of the Western Reserve Land Company organized a township and named it after John Lancaster, a British general who had fought against General George Washington in the war. The town was established on November 3, 1797 by order of trustees as part of what became known as Township No. 5 (later School District No. 1). On May 14, 1815, Congress passed an act declaring that all land east of the Scioto River be put into one commonwealth and named this new state of Ohio; Lancaster followed suit on July 4th. On February 23rd., 1836, both states merged into one and were renamed again as Ohio; with this rename came also an end to Township No. 5's existence within School District 1 which became School District 2 (later Butler County). During World War II much effort was made to provide food for troops stationed in nearby Camp Atterbury but few residents Know about it because they didn't have access to television or Radio like we do today! It wasn't until 1948 that TV stations began airing programming from all over America so people could see how their country was doing! And finally we got our own Post Office in 1951

Lancaster is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio, located on the banks of the Scioto River. The population was 51,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus-Middletown-Zanesville, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European settlers in Lancaster County were English traders and missionaries who arrived in 1793 and named it for Sir William Lancaster, 1st Baronet (1685-1762), governor of British North America from 1755 to 1760 and then again from 1765 to his death in 1768. The town of Lancaster was platted in 1800 by Nicholas Davenport as part of a land grant that he had received from James Kippenberger, 3rd Governor of Pennsylvania. In 1803, Captain John Smith discovered oil near present day downtown Lancaster while exploring for resources along the Scioto River. Oil production began promptly and continued until 1901 when a local company became too large to continue operations and ceased production; this removed one reason why Lancaster became an important center for oil production during this time period In 1814, Colonel George Rogers Clark founded Athens College (later Ohio State University) here in what is now downtown Athens with donations made by him after he won fame as commander of American forces during the Battle of Fallen Timbers near Knoxville, Tennessee – one year before Cleveland's incorporation into Ohio as an independent township on October 15th 1830 (). The college played an important role in developing educational opportunities for women throughout Ohio during its early years; among its graduates were both Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865) and Louise von Steuben (1787-1857). When Athens College relocated to Lima Heights later that decade due to financial difficulties caused by Indian raids into central Ohio/////////////////////// A&M Collegiate Institute served as the regional campus for both Athens College and A&M Collegiate Institute between 1915 and 1961 when Lima Heights fell within Greater Cincinnati Municipal Schools District No. 2; however, Main Campus A&M continues to offer undergraduate degrees through their graduate program today In 1821 Franklin D'Angelo founded Piqua Academy here which graduated its first class in 1828 D'Angelo withdrew all students from Piqua Academy effective September 30th 1831 because he found "the true principles taught there did not agree with his own"///////////////////////////////////////////////
