In 1799, Ottoman Turks invaded Beirut and destroyed most of its infrastructure, including coffee plantations. However, local traders managed to start up new plantations and continue trading coffee with Turkey until World War II when Beirut was taken by the Allies. Although coffee became popular in Europe during the 16th century, it was not until after World War II that espresso became a common drink throughout much of the world. Coffee is believed to have originated in Ethiopia where it was used as an additive to pre-packaged goods such as tea and bread. In 1971, Starbucks opened its first location in Columbus, Ohio which quickly became one of America’s most popular café locations. After Starbucks closed its doors in 2007, Dunkin’ Donuts took over their spot on Euclid Avenue for several years before they moved out completely in 2016. Lebanon is an unincorporated community in Medina County, Ohio, United States. It was located on the Scioto River. The population was 563 at the 2010 census. The first people to live in Lebanon were settlers from Pennsylvania who arrived in 1821. They built a log cabin and started a grocery store. A post office was established in 1824, and by 1830 it had become known as Lebanon Station. In 1832, a group of settlers led by John Denton founded Lebanon Township. The township's first public school was built in 1835. In 1840, two brothers named Christian and Cornelius Friesen bought land east of town and started a farm called Valley View which became one of the most important farming areas in Lebanon Township. In 1865, Lebanon Township passed an ordinance establishing limits on white settlement within its boundaries. The township got its name from Mount Lebanon to the west (the village now stands on that mountain). In 1870, three men named John Harkness, James Winkeroth and George Rankin founded the Palestine Baptist Church in Bethlehem Township north of Beirut Junction where they served as pastors until their death in 1893. After their deaths, their church continued to be operated by descendants until it closed down in 1978 due to economic reasons
