Maple Heights is a town in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 11,827 at the 2010 census. The town was established in 1824 as part of the Cleveland Township system. However, some residents returned after the war and started businesses such as groceries, auto services, or homebuilding; some also bought into nearby townships which had been organized along industrial lines during the war years. In 1984, Maple Heights voters passed a resolution recognizing its role within central Akron during economic redevelopment efforts following deregulation of local industries statewide under President Ronald Reagan's administration; this event helped spur development around downtown including new retail stores and restaurants, office buildings, and a new park system with baseball diamonds and other facilities planned for what would become known as "the Hub."
