The squadron was activated to fly the B-17 Flying Fortress bomber and its armament consisted of a pair of 20mm cannon, four 500lb bombs, and four 0.50 caliber machineguns. The 9th Bombardment Squadron served in World War II as a flying artillery unit providing fire support for ground troops by bombing enemy targets from low altitude. During their time inactivated on September 14, 1945, they were reactivated as an aerial refueling and combat supply squadron under Strategic Air Command (SAC). With SAC's increasing reliance upon jet aircraft for strategic bombardment, it was decided that the 9th would be reassigned to RAF Mildenhall Airport near London England for conversion into an air tanker unit equipped with Lockheed L-4C Tankers. On May 26, 1947, the 9th Tanker Squadron redesignated as "North Ridgeville Airmobile Unit". This unit flew tanks and armored cars overnight along I-71 from Cincinnati to Akron/Youngstown/Warren County covering all military exercises conducted by Ohio National Guard units in central Ohio during summer training seasons. These long flights filled up with soldiers and civilian drivers who provided transportation between army encampments and various sports tournaments or other events taking place in central Ohio. At this time airmobile units were being used more extensively by USAF than groundbased forces throughout most of Europe because USAF could provide rapid mobile firepower when needed while theater commanders could control airspace using bombers instead of heavy artillery or tank formations which required days or weeks notice before operations could begin

North Ridgeville is located on the north side of the Scioto River and has a mix of Victorian and rustic architecture. The town was named after North Ridge Road, which ran through it. The first settler in what would become North Ridgeville was John Roebuck in 1814. He cleared land for farming and built a cabin near where he lives to this day. In 1825, Jameson & Company founded a mill on the Scioto River below present-day Northridgeville High School. The company operated until 1850 when it became part of Dayton's Paper Mill Company. In 1876, George Washington Dixon began his agricultural enterprise with 5 acres (2 hectares) of land southeast of present-day Northridgeville on what is now Southfield Avenue. Dixon raised corn and beans while also building an gristmill that still operates today as one of Dayton's oldest businesses. His milling operation produced flour for local marketplaces and also shipped products to Cincinnati and other markets around Ohio via railroads during the late 19th century. Today, remnants of Dixon's mill can be seen along Southfield Avenue south of the high school campus

North Ridgeville is a small town in Union County, Ohio, located east of the city of Cincinnati. The population was 7,868 at the 2010 census. North Ridgeville is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in what is now North Ridgeville was James Auld who arrived from Scotland in 1790 and named his land "Ridgeville." In 1814, General Andrew Jackson's forces fought an engagement near North Ridgeville and killed many soldiers and settlers. This event is commemorated by a plaque on Route 66 that reads: "In1814 General Andrew Jackson's forces fought an engagement near this town & killed many soldiers." After the Battle of Gettysburg, American troops burned all remaining homes in Union County after they had completed their march through the area to Chattanooga. Because some residents had fled before the battle and others were unable to rebuild following the loss, there remain few clues as to what happened to these people or whether they ever returned home. However, evidence suggests that most likely they did not re-settle because new homes were built elsewhere soon afterwards. In 1845, John Dickinson purchased 1/4 acre (0.24 km²) of land north of present day North Ridgeville from James Auld for $40 cash only - one of the earliest recorded deeds for residential development in that part of Union County. Dickinson later donated additional land to build what would become known as township boundaries which continue southward today around much of Southridge Township and parts of Eastwood Township also joining up with North Ridgeville over time - creating a total area larger than any one township until 1959 when it was split into two more townships by then-Governor Dan Husted - adding yet another community within easy reach for those living within its borders! The early days at first were quite difficult due to lack thereof transportation so settlers walked or took wagons all along routes running through central Ohio including West Chester & Dayton being able to buy goods they needed while on their way back home! One such pioneer family was The Hodges who settled just outside present day Bridgeport on lot #5 according to one source; however others have put this number closer to 20+. They operated a gristmill here beginning in about 1840 which still flourishes today providing local income even though mill closed down circa 1936 due primarily to hard times during depression era! As mentioned earlier there are few clues left behind as to how these original residents fared subsequent years but based off oral history it seems most likely that most likely majority chose not return home either because difficulties arose too great or simply could not afford it given current prices available at market time! There are numerous stories told about early pioneers like Elias Boudinot returning years later only due he found work doing odd jobs for other families living nearby instead? That sameodus story has been retold multiple times throughout history by various people including members OF local historical society which gives pause considering discrepancies between accounts!!?!?!
