The Marine Corps Deployment Gift History Collection is a research and preservation project initiated by the Ardmore Historical Society in 1984. The collection is made up of items donated to the society by Marines who have served in Ardmore or its vicinity during various military deployments. The first deployment gift was given to the society on July 1, 1984 when Corporal Kenneth L. Ford donated a rifle oil can as a token of appreciation for his service with Company C, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. The rifle can still be seen on display in front of the society's building today. Since then, many more gifts have been donated to the society from Marines who have served in Ardmore or its vicinity during various military deployments including tours of duty with units such as Army Rangers, Naval Sea Systems Command destroyers and amphibious assault ships (USMC), and Air Force fighters and bombers. Many of these items are currently on display in our museum adjacent to our building. While some items from prior deployments may not be preserved for future generations due to their fragility or sentimental value, the Marine Corps Deployment Gift History Collection provides an insight into what has gone through their minds when they receive a gift from someone who has served with them in uniform. It also helps preserve this important history for future generations to come.

The Ardmore Marines were deployed in support of Operation Neptune's Spear in Afghanistan. They received gifts from many people, including the Queen and Prince Harry.
Ardmore is a small town in southwestern Oklahoma, United States. It is the county seat of Haskell County. The population was 7,812 at the 2010 census. Ardmore is located in Eastland County on the Arkansas River and has a total area of 26 square miles (75 km²). The townsite was laid out by the Haskell brothers in 1881. It became an incorporated municipality in 1907. In 1915, Ardmore Place, a shopping center and office complex built on land donated by banker George W. French, was developed. The town's economy depends largely upon agriculture and ranching; many residents are also employed as farmers or ranchers themselves. Manufacturing includes some light manufacturing pursuits such as clothing production and homebuilding; however, Ardmore's primary industry has been agriculture for ninety years. The largest business in town is the Arbuckle Store & Grill which employs 175 people full-time and offers more than 100 local favorites including buffalo burgers, chicken wings, pizza doughnuts and chili dogs all day long!

Ardmore is a small town in northeast Oklahoma, United States. It is the county seat of Custer County. As of the 2010 census, the population was 6,898. The community was founded in 1881 by John Ardmore and his wife Margaret as a cotton plantation named Cloverleaf. The first post office opened in Ardmore on November 15, 1881. In 1907, it became the second town in Custer County to be incorporated when its citizens voted to do so. The original courthouse burned down in 1911 and was replaced by a new structure erected in 1925. The original school building was also destroyed by fire but a new one was built and dedicated on December 1, 1928. According to the 2000 census, Ardmore has an estimated population of 7,500 living within its city limits only; this number increased to 10,509 as of the 2010 census estimate for unincorporated areas within city limits totaling 913 people.
The town of Ardmore, Oklahoma was founded in 1907 by the merger of two smaller communities, Collinsville and West Ardmore. The name "Ardmore" is derived from the Cherokee word apataki meaning "place where there is a spring." The first post office opened in 1909. By 1916, the population had grown to over 1,000 residents. In 1925, the town renamed itself to honor John F. Kennedy, who had just been elected president of the United States.
