Ardmore is a small town in northeastern Oklahoma, located on the banks of the Susquehanna River. The town was founded in 1907 by settlers from Tennessee and was named for General Ordonez, who served as military governor of Mexico during the Mexican Revolution. Ardmore's ZIP code is 73036. As of the 2010 census, there were 6,554 people living in Ardmore proper, 2,811 households, and 1,764 families residing in unincorporated areas nearby. The hangar remained operational until it was destroyed by fire in 1946-47; however, it has since been rebuilt and is now used as a local high school gymnasiums' bleachers

Ardmore is a town in Osage County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 7,521 at the 2010 census. The name "Ardmore" comes from the Cherokee word ʔa-da-wi-koi meaning "place of many hills." When white settlers moved into the area in 1881, they named it Ardmore after the estate of James K. Polk which was located near present day Ardmore. The first post office in Ardmore was established on December 12, 1881. It was known as Post Office Park until 1907 when it changed its name to Ardmore. The current post office building was built in 1915 and has been used since that time. The town began as a small farming community with only a few houses and a schoolhouse. By 1925, there were over 100 people living in ArdMORE and the town had two stores, four churches and one bank. In 1931, an oil well was drilled in central ArdMORE and production started right away which led to increased population growth and development within the community. In 1939, an additional store became available when construction began on what is now Main Street; this store would become one of the most important business districts within the community until it closed in 1984 due to economic decline.). As oil production declined throughout the 1970s and 1980s, so too did population growth rates within ArdMORE; however by 2000 there remained over 1,000 residents living primarily within downtown areas with limited outlying areas including rural roads serving as boundaries between residential neighborhoods/towns inside of city limits (and vice versa). Ardmore is a city in and the county seat of Ardmore County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 397 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tulsa metropolitan area. The first to settle in Ardmore were pioneer farmers who arrived from Iowa in 1873. By 1890, there were over 100 residents living in the community. The city's name comes from an Indian word meaning "the place where a light burns." In 1904, Mayor John Coughlin dedicated a park in downtown Ardmore to honorOklahoma pioneers who had made that state their home. One such Pioneer Park official dedication occurred on July 20th, 1904 when GEOFFREY SANDBUSK donated land for a public square which would become known as Pioneer Square today. In 1907, the first successful leather tannery was established in Ardmore by WILfred Hogg and his partners JOE LAMBERT and FRANK FERGUSON with help from then-Governor David Gilmore. The tannery became one of the most important local businesses until it closed its doors in 1958 due to economic conditions during World War II. Today's Ardmore Municipal Airport provides passenger service only to Tulsa International Airport; however, it still served as an important transportation hub for settlers and later residents of rural areas outside of town until after World War II when Interstate 40 supplanted local travel options During this time period some major firefights took place near present day Ardmore between various factions vying for control over what was then known as "The Rifle Range". As each side lessened its numbers or lost power due to destruction caused by weather extremes or other hostilities these battles dwindled into what are now considered myths–one example being the Battle of White Sands which took place on November 10th 1908 while also taking place just across town at nearby Council Bluffs Battlefield
The town of Ardmore was founded in 1868 by James Fenton and his brother, George. It was named for the nearby mountain range, which had a great deal to do with its location. The first post office was established in 1870. In 1886, the town became a county seat and it has been that way ever since.
