Claremore is a small town in Oklahoma, located on the eastern edge of the state. The population was 6,041 at the 2010 census. Claremore is one of two towns in Oklahoma City metropolitan area, and it is also home to many businesses and industries. The city has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen: Cfa) with pronounced differences in temperature throughout the year. The first settlements in what would become Claremore were made around 1881 when several families arrived from Arkansas by way of Wichita County, Kansas. By 1907 there were 10 homes and 3 stores in town. In 1908 an agreement was made between Claremore citizens and the Wichita & Tulsa Railroad Company to allow for trackage directly through town center so that goods could be transported quickly from Wichita to Tulsa without having to go through Keystone or Harper Heights. In 1911 Mayor J.B. McCarthy proposed incorporation of Claremorle as a village but this proposal was not accepted by the vote because no one wanted to live near another community with such high school tuition rates while they continued to work on their farms (later renamed “McCarthy Township”). On December 2nd, 1912, voters passed an ordinance creating Claremorle as a city under the name of “Claremore” after speaking with then-Mayor John McCarthy about how much better things would be if they just incorporated together instead of fighting over who should get what rights/responsibilities within their own municipality – something that had been going on for years amongOklahoma cities since its formation during post-Civil War America The first mayor of Claremorle was Wm Auld who served from 1912 until 1916; he was succeeded by Ethel Brougham who served until 1932; she was followed by Franklin Ducharme from 1933 until 1941; finally, Fenton Carney became mayor in 1942 following World War II and held office until 1949 when he resigned due to health reasons After World War II, many manufacturing jobs moved out of Oklahoma City as American industry shifted towards new technologies such as plastics and electronic equipment . However, many residents kept their homes here because they found stability and affordability in Claremorle despite some difficult times (). The city saw its heyday during the late 1950s through early 1970s thanks largely to advances made in air travel which allowed people living outside Oklahoma City access to quality medical care while still being close enough for shopping and entertainment . However, growth declined thereafter as Interstate 40 replaced railroad transportation as the primary means for getting people into town

Claremore is located in Muskogee County, Oklahoma. It was named after General James K. Polk, who served as the 34th U.S. president from 1845-1849 and died in office at the age of 49 years, four months. Claremore was founded by pioneer settlers in 1881 and became a town in 1907. The population of Claremore peaked at 25,000 in 1930 but has declined since then. The town experienced an economic boom during World War II when a munitions plant was built there; however, this facility closed down around 1990 and the economy has been struggles ever since. Today, Claremore is a small community with few businesses or services available outside of the occasional grocery store or restaurant. However, it retains some cultural significance as the hometown to three American presidents: Franklin D. Roosevelt (1935-1945), John F Kennedy (1961-1963) and George H W Bush (2000-2008).
Claremore was first settled in 1871 by a group of settlers from Arkansas. The town name is derived from the Cherokee word "kalāmī" meaning "place where there is water." Claremore grew rapidly due to its location on the main stagecoach route between Tulsa and Fort Worth. The town’s natural resources, such as coal and oil, attracted businesses and residents. In 1907, Claremore became part of the Oklahoma Territory. In 1907, the territorial legislature passed a bill creating Claremore as an incorporated city. The incorporation process took several years because of objections from local farmers who felt that city government would be intrusive into their livelihoods. On July 10, 1912, Claremore City was officially created when it received a charter from the Oklahoma Legislature. The early years of Claremorle were difficult; many small businesses failed during the gold rush days wheniva (a type of cane) was abundant and prices for goods were high. However, over time some successful businesses emerged including a grocery store, bank, flour mill and hotel/motel. Many people in Claremorle are remembered for their participation in local civic organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce or Rotary Club which they joined because they believed that these organizations helped contribute to community stability and prosperity.
