Enid, Oklahoma is a city in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. The population was 704 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Arkansas River in eastern Noble County and straddles the border between Noble and Tulsa counties. Enid is home to Tinker Air Force Base and to the Enid Regional Airport, which serves both Enid and Tulsa metropolitan areas. The first Europeans to visit what is now Enid were French missionaries who arrived in 1827, followed by Spanish missionaries in 1830. The town began as a trading post on the Arkansas River near present-day Tinker Air Force Base. A post office was established in 1881, but no town hall was built until 1907 when en route from Tulsa to Muskogee for a cattle drive, Jens Jensen proposed that it be called "Enid" after his wife's birthplace, Norway (now Odda). George Hennepin donated land for a city park in 1911; construction began that same year and finished four years later. In 1912, general manager of oil production Edward Clements designated an area along Main Street north of I-40 as "City Park". That year also saw the founding of local organizations including the American Legion Post #1 (1899) and First Methodist Church (1910). In 1933, Oklahoma City was hit with one of history's largest earthquakes - magnitude 8.5 - which killed more than 50 people and left hundreds homeless across OKC county alone In 1941 new City Hall replaced old City Park; during World War II various industries turned downtown into an wartime military base providing housing for soldiers barracks troops stores etc.; 1945-1950s saw major development with many highrise developments downtown having become known as "the towers". Since then there has been significant decline with manyrenegent demolitions beginning in late 1990s thru early 2000s mainly due to lack of interest from developers well beyond those associated with City Hall . presently most active uses are residential redevelopment off I-40 east side towards Uniontown center where lots have been leased back by City Halls current occupants primarily business entities or governmental agencies looking for sites within Minutes walk or car ride from their current facilities

Enid, Oklahoma is a town located in the east-central part of the state of Oklahoma. The population was 5,856 at the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1907 by George E. Rice and named after his daughter, Enid. The first post office in Enid was established in 1909. It served as the eastern terminus of the Kansas City, Missouri to Tulsa, Oklahoma Mail Train service. When that service ended in 1923, Enid had become its own mail depot. In 1938, Enid became an incorporated city with a population of over 20,000 people. In 1951 it became an independent county with a population of over 50,000 people and adopted a Republican Party platform as its official stance on government policy. In 1984 Enid merged with Muskogee County to form Osage County. The name "Enid" comes from two Indian words meaning "place where many buffalo roam." George E Rice donated land for the town's founding and named his daughter after him; however he did not live to see it developed into what it is today due to illness at age 78 years old on November 15th, 1907 local time within only three weeks of its establishment! His widow used her influence within the community to help make this happen as she saw great potential for growth given her husband's donation which would later be realized through incorporation into another city adjoining Muskogee called Kimberley while still under consideration by Mrs Rice herself! 'don't forget 'blessing' our woman who helped pave way for all that now exists around us!' wrote one resident shortly after incorporation when looking back on their beginnings... envious though they may have been they could not have known how things would develop or grow even more so since Mrs Rice herself continues to play an instrumental role both day and night ensuring everyone knows what their responsibilities are & strives hard every day towards making sure everything runs smoothly!' Today many residents come together each year during Pioneer Days ceremonies weekdays 9am until 3pm McClellan Park downtown)to celebrate local festivities such as arts and crafts displays knitted items sold fresh produce available tomorrow evening open mic night
