The Coast Guard has been providing a service to the people of Enid, Oklahoma since 1919. The Coast Guard has played an important role in keeping our community safe and ensuring that everyone has access to essential supplies and services. The Coast Guard's history in Enid goes back even further. In 1919, the Enid Chamber of Commerce started planning for a coast guard station in the town. They pooled their money and bought land from the government for $5,000. On October 3rd, 1919, the first officer on duty at the new station was First Class John Fenton. In 1949, Hurricane Charley destroyed many homes and businesses inEnid. The Coast Guard responded with personnel and supplies from nearby towns to help rebuild. The Station was reopened on January 24th, 1950 with Captain Donny Olson as Commandant. Captain Olson is credited with being one of the first officers to staff a permanently manned shore leave center for vacationers inOklahoma City after Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans on August 29th, 2005 . He also directed operations during both severe storms that struck Enid during 2007-2008-2009-2010 During those times when it was not possible or practical for Coast Guardsmen to respond directly due to weather conditions or other emergencies ashore they provided significant support by manned detachments afloat including Helicopter Operations (HOCO), lifeboats/lighters (LIF) as well as tow truck operations In November 2014Happy New Year! The Enid Coast Guard Station was established in 1921. The Coast Guard assumed jurisdiction over the area around Enid on December 15, 1929. The station's first director was Captain Harry W. Dickey and its first commanding officer was First Lieutenant John A. Pritchard. In 1939, the Coast Guard acquired a new station at this location which became known as the Enid Station. In 1950, the Coast Guard purchased land at this site for $1,500 which became known as the Naval Air Station Fairbanks-Enid (NASFE). NASFE operated until 1981 when it was closed by order of then President Reagan because of budget cuts. NASFE is now an open-air museum that houses artifacts from both NASFE and other Department of Defense facilities in Oklahoma City and Edmond, Oklahoma during World War II and afterward.
Enid, Oklahoma is a town located in Muskegon County, Michigan. The population was 1,534 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lansing-Muskegon Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first person to live in what is now Enid was John Doe in 1827. The town was platted in 1881 by Simeon Fuller and W. H. Dearborn. A post office called Enid was established in 1882, and remained open until it was discontinued in 1907. A sawmill on the Little River developed around 1900; this milling operation produced lumber for buildings and other objects until 1949 when it closed down due to competition from mills south of Lansing by the same name (now with a larger population). The community sprang up around two churches: First Methodist and Second Baptist which were built between 1903 and 1904 on land donated by Miss Anna Gentry (1875-1964). The first service of both denominations took place on October 10, 1903 at First Methodist Church before classes began at Muskegon High School that fall term; services were also held there intermittently until 1951 when Second Baptist moved into its own building nearby which served as the community's first schoolhouse. An ice cream parlor opened near Main Street & Elm Road in 1922 which became a popular tourist attraction for visitors during winter months; it stopped operations after several years due to low patronage but left an indelible impression on Enidians with its unique flavors still available today as "Ice Cream Station" (later "Frosty's"). In 1941 Mable Hebard became pastor of First Methodist Church after serving as headmistress of Bellefontaine College Preparatory School adjacent to her church since 1925 where she had been teaching since 1916 before coming to teach full time at Muskegon Heights High School where she stayed until her death in 1984; he dedicated her new church on December 7th following services at Bellefontaine College Prepatory School while President Franklin D Roosevelt delivered his Christmas message from Warm Springs National Park not far away giving her title An American Widow who Took Up Her Cross . Reverend Hebard is buried next to his predecessor inside Bellefontaine Cemetery . In 1957 an addition northwest of Main Street along US Highway 231 housed Enido Community Center which served as the primary social/recreational gathering spot for residents east of US Highway 97 during those days prior to Walmart moving out into the area about 1975 although some remnants remain today within walking distance north off I-94

It wasn’t until 1967 that Tulsa split off from OKLAHOMA STATISTICS SCHOOL DISTRICT #2 creating THE ENID PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT which still uses many of the same buildings as when they started! In recent years, there has been some loss of population due to various factors such as retirement homes and moving away for work but overall Enid remains an important community with a rich history!
