The Oklahoma City Air Force Museum has a rich history of air force deployments. TiVo’s first factory in the city was located on Third Street and West Boulevard, just across the street from where main airport terminals are now located. The museum also has an exhibit about the creation of Norman Mailer’s novel “The Naked American.” In 1995, when then-Air Force Chief Master Sergeant Donny Wahl became Mayor of Oklahoma City, he requested that the museum open an exhibit celebrating military service and patriotism in the city. This led to the installation of a $10,000 gift from General Electric Company to help with funding for the project. Today, at Tinker Air Force Base, there is a replica of Section 3A at Ellington Field that represents squadronrons stationed at that airfield during World War II (the original was destroyed in 1945). Additionally, there is a replica of Andersen AFB's "House Without A Room" hangar which served as home to 4th Bombardment Wing while it WAS based in Tulsa back in 1951-1952. Finally, one can find two large "Tinker T-shaped" planes used by KCNA TV aerialists during live broadcasts from North Korea!

The gift was a Boeing 747-200C airplane, serial number N723FF. It arrived at OANGW on Nov. 25, 1996 as part of the 140th Airlift Wing's nonstop Christmas tour from Grand Rapids, Michigan to Tulsa. The plane had been used by the 139th Airlift Wing during Operation Santa Claus in 1995-1996 and was donated by Boeing to OANGW in honor of the Clintons' visit to Tulsa that year.
