Woodward, Oklahoma is home to the First Marine Depot on Dyer Island. In 1892, this depot was founded as a result of the donation of land by J.P. Dooley and J.M. Stratton for the purpose of providing military supplies to local warships stationed in what is nowOklahoma City territory. The Second Marine Depot on Blackwell Island followed in 1903, and then Third Marine Depot on Utica Reef in 1907-1909 were located there as well. The Fourth Marine Depot opened at Woodward Pier in 1958, becoming the first marine depot outside of Japan to serve U.S coastal combatants and Marines during World War II. As part of Defense Department reorganization following World War II, these depots were merged into the newly created Third Marine Division headquartered at Fort Worth, Texas in 1951-1953 before being renamed Fifth Marine Division (Marine Corps) at Mesquite Army Air Field, Texas in 1957-1959 before being disbanded again at Ft Worth in 1961-. The First Naval Shipyard on Oliver Hazard Perry Island was established after the war with a contract from President Franklin D Roosevelt to build USS Constitution (LPH 4) which became one of America's most famous naval vessels ever built and continues to be used today by both Navy and Coast Guard fleets worldwide throughout her career spanning over 160 years including deployments around the world including two stints Stationed off Guantanamo Bay Cuba! She also served as Flagship for our Nation's Fleet Week celebration from 1969 thru 1973! In addition she continued her tours through many wars supporting various missions until decommissioning in 1990! In 1954 when Woodward was added to the city it had just under 2,500 residents; By 1970 it had grown to over 15,000 residents making it one of Oklahoma's fastest growing cities! This growth has been due largely to oil production which has brought jobs andHomes within reach for all Oklahomans! Not only do we have great job opportunities but access to excellent education thanks to Woodward Community College - one ofAmerica's largest community colleges serving more than 12K students from nearly every corner ofthe state! The city is also home to major league baseball’s Tulsa Oilers who play their home games at municipal Stadium across fromCity Hall – a facility that has seen numerous changes over its history including replacement with three stadiums during its tenure; finally settling upon current configuration just priorto its dedication back in 2006!!!

Woodward, Oklahoma is a town in Haskell County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,856 at the 2010 census. Woodward was founded in 1907 by George W. Woodward and his family as a cattle ranch. The name "Woodward" is derived from the Shawnee word "wadaga," meaning "a place to dwell." Woodward's first post office opened in 1911. It closed in 1917 because of World War I services available only for men. In 1937, the U.S. government established an air force base here and named it Tinker Air Force Base afterGENERAL OTIS KEATING III who was then military governor of Oklahoma Territory during that time period The town has been known for its oil production since 1947 when oil fields were discovered nearby In 1951, the first pipeline link up with refineries east of Wichita, Kansas increase refining capacity by 20%. This led to increased demand for crude oil products which also created other jobs such as manufacturing parts for pipelines In 2003-2004, due to underground water depletion creating environmental conditions that were unsafe to operate wells or produce more oil than allowed under state law (due to wastewater spills), Woodward City Council voted unanimously to switch their entire city water supply over to an all-natural system made up of artesian well water and reverse osmosis systems
The Woodward family resided in the town of Woodward, Oklahoma from 1881 to 1907. The first settler in Woodward was John L. Woodward who arrived in 1881. John's son, James A. Woodward, became the second owner of the land which he donated to the town in 1902. The original store and post office were built on the property which is now known as Main Street. In 1906, James A. Woodward's son-in-law, George Wickersham, purchased the property from John L. Woodward and incorporated the town into his own name with a population of seventy two people that year. The towns first Schoolhouse was built in 1907 and was used until it burned down in 1932. In 1951, George Wickersham sold his interest in the town to Jerald Daugherty and it remained under his ownership until 1993 when it passed out of hands again and reverted back to its original owners - The Woodward Family
