The Oregon Air National Guard’s 364th Airlift Wing (364AW) flies the C-130J Hercules. The wing’s history stretches back to 1944 when it was activated as the 128th Troop Carrier Squadron at Patrick Air Force Base, Arizona. In 1946, the squadron moved to Keizer Army Airfield, Oregon and became part of NinthAir Force. On 1 November 1947, the 328th Bombardment Squadron arrived from RAF Molesworth and was assigned to 368AW. The 328th flew Boeing B-29 Superfortresses during World War II before transitioning to Boeing B-17 Flying Fortresses in 1946. In 1948, 368 AW converted to C-46A Spartans and began operations transporting troops and supplies over the Northwest Desert Campaign in support of United States Marine Corps forces fighting in Iwo Jima and Okinawa. It also served as a troop carrier for peacekeeping missions in Southeast Asia between 1951 and 1954; this includes airlifting more than 2,000 passengers and cargo into Bangkok during the Korean War. On 20 September 1955, 368 AW transferred to FirstAir Command effective 15 October 1955 as an element of Third Air Division (3AD). 3AD operated Boeing 727 aircraft until its disbanding on 30 June 1957 when all USAF combat divisions were disbanded except for those serving in Vietnam which continued under III Tactical Fighter Command until its dissolution on 14 August 1966. 368 AW returned to civilian control on 6 July 1958 when it was reorganized into a wing with two groups: The 369th Airlift Group consisting of three squadrons flying Lockheed C-123A Globemaster III transports; The 370th Airlift Group operating McDonnell Douglas DC-9Hs; both groups were subordinated directly to Fourth Air Force under Third Air Division authority until 17 February 1969 when they were reassigned directly under Second Air Force command effective 1 March 1969 at Klamath AFB, California due to impending closure of Klamath AFB by USAF budgetary restrictions caused byANG expansion plans that would have included an increased number of fighter jets stationed at Klamath AFB while leaving no room for ground Attack Aviation units within AF structure

The Oregon Air National Guard's 1st Special Operations Wing (1 SOSW) deployed a gift history aircraft and crew to Keizer, Oregon during the holiday season. This event was part of the unit's annual Christmas party. The gift history aircraft, an F-16 Fighting Falcon, was donated by KEZN/TV station KOIN-TV and arrived at the airport on December 5th. The 1 SOSW's flight crew included nine enlisted airmen from the squadron and one officer from Headquarters Squadron 1 in Bend, Oregon. The pilots flew the gift history aircraft around town visiting local businesses and hospitals while displaying some of their skills as fighter pilots.
Keizer is a small town in the U.S. state of Oregon, located on the banks of the Willamette River. The population was 3,826 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Eugene–Springfield metropolitan area. The first European to explore and settle in what would become Keizer was Captain John McLoughlin, who landed his ship "John Mason" on the riverbank on July 15, 1836,near present day downtown Keizer. He named the location after Hendrik de Valk, Dutch explorer and member of the Columbia Expedition in 1792-93 who had explored much of what is nowOregon Territory before his death nearpresent day Salem in 1807. De Valk's party had also passed through this area as they traveled from their mining expedition upriver to Portland about a month earlier when they encountered and discovered Native Americans living around present day Keizer Rapids on their way back downriver.. The first human being known to live permanently in or within easy access of modern-day downtown Keizer was George Houghton, an American fur trader who settled there with his family in 1839. They erected a log cabin near what is now Main Street which served as their home until they sold it to John Quincy Adams in 1862 for $1 cash and moved out due to constant Indian raids by Chief Joseph Klamath's band of Ahtna Indians along what became US Route 1 during that decade.. Adams set up a store next door at First Avenue and Main Street where he operated until 1865 when he moved across US Route 1 into what is now Pioneer Square - then just east side of present day US Route 97 southbound - purchaseing land from Miles Bickerton for $6 per acre . There was no post office at this point so Adams built one himself from scratch (and still does today) with mail service coming via stagecoach.. Jefferson County began operating an official post office here on May 24th 1863 under appointment from Governor Peter Burnett .. In 1875 , Congress enacted The Act Relating To The Post Office And Telegraphs Of Oregon Which provided for establishment Of A Mail Service From Portland To Salem Through The District Of Columbia .. On November 2nd 1876 , City Council voted unanimously to change its name from “John Quincy Adams” To “Keizer” After Philo Sockwell – Mayor For 14 Years – Who Said: “It Is Time We Moved Away From That Name Alone As It Is No longer recollected By Our People Or Seen In Their Historiography” & Colleen McHugh – Clerk At The time Said: “I Like What This Name Means And I Believe It Shall BeSUCCEEDED By Another More Appropriate Name Than Just John Quincy Adams When We Get Around To Making Any Changes Hereabouts … I Think We Should appellate ourselves Keizers Incorporated” Mayor McHugh Continued: … Accordingly On December 6th 1876 A Resolution Was Introduced Warranting Pollution Control DepartmentTo Take Action Against Unauthorized dumpster dumping Nearby & agitating Crowds Occurred Which Led To Order Being Issued evacuating All Property Within 10 Miles radius… Due tot he increased public attention brought about by these eventslocal businesses quickly adopted new namesakes such as Pizza Hut, Bobcats Café & Waffle House while old ones like Aladdin’s Rest stop retained their original names but were given new logos etc…. The United States Air Force has a long history of deploying gifts to its allies and friends. Gifts have been sent in many different forms, including the delivery of flowers, candy bars, or even small toys. In recent years, however, the air force has become increasingly known for sending large gift baskets filled with items such as weapons and ammunition. This tradition began in 1999 when then-Lt. Gen. Michael J. Flynn directed the USAF's Tactical Airlift Command to send a shipment of military supplies and equipment to NATO members Croatia and Slovenia in order to support peacekeeping efforts. Since then, gifts have continued to be sent on an annual basis as part of the "Troops-To-Allies" program. The air force's "gift history" is dotted with moments that have helped improve relationships between coalition partners and the US military. Some of these experiences include: hosting Nato meetings at bases located in California; providing resources such as Humvees and armored vehicles to Kurdish forces fighting against ISIS; donating food shipments to disaster relief efforts during Hurricane Harvey; and conductingOperation Neptune Spear – which was responsible for liberating hostages from Osama bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan – using C-130J aircraft instead of land vehicles. Today, the US Air Force continues its tradition of delivering big gifts not only to its allies but alsoto its own citizens who make up one half of America's population.
