The history of military deployed gifts in Keizer, Oregon can be traced back to the early days of the city. In 1875, a group of men from Keizer founded the Pioneer Legion and donated goods to support the army during the Mexican-American War. The gift giving continued throughout the years and by 1907,Keizer had become known as "The City of Givers." In 1928, General Earle C. Wheeler purchased land in Keizer and began developing it into an agricultural town. The town's first post office was built on what is now Civic Center Square. In 1935, General Douglas MacArthur came to Keizer to headline a veterans' parade and decided to give away food for free to soldiers stationed in Oregon. This event is considered one of the earliest instances of military deployed gifts being given away as a practical gesture of goodwill. By 1945, General Wesley Clark had moved his headquarters from Portland to Weldon Johnson AFB in Oregon City and started up Operation Neptune's Spear which aimed at occupying Japan. As part of this effort, generators were sent across country for troops stationed at various airfields around Oregon. One such airfield was located in central Oregon near Whatcom County which housed General Motors plants making war surplus vehicles available for use by American forces within Japan (Operation Overlord). As part of this operation, Generals MacArthur and Clark distributed food parcels directly to troops stationed at these facilities as well as providing them with books, tools and other items needed for construction work within Japan. In 1954, when Federal Aviation Administration regulations required all airplanes carrying passengers or cargo over 10 statute miles must be registered with the FAA before takeoff or landing, General Curtis LeMay decided that he would likeKeizer's airport open so that aircraft could be stored there during long-term deployments without having}{to}land at Deschutes County Airport either side thereof}. Accordingly on November 17th{1945},the airport became operational under instruction from Lt Colonel Kenyon Swift who directed its use solely for storage purposes until{a}{r}either {s}o that planes could not only park there while they were being used or else they could take off but also come back down by way of {t}{u}. This decision marks an important milestone in airport history because it allowed us today our ubiquitous "skyways" which allow traffic moving between towns along defined routes without ever having to cross Deschutes County! Since then we've seen many families choose our wonderful community as their basecamp where they can run their businesses while serving our nation; whether it's familyowned grocery stores minutes walk from your home or daycare centers just outside town limits; military barracks across the street; churches/synagogues/ mosques nearby; golf courses within easy reach...the list goes on! Allowing locals access to these great resources has been instrumental in allowing us develop into one of Americas premier communities!

Keizer is a small town in Oregon, United States. The population was 7,468 at the 2010 census. Keizer is located in Tumwater County and is part of the Spokane metropolitan area. It lies on the Columbia River, about 20 miles (32 km) east of Seattle. The first Europeans to visit Keizer were fur traders from British Columbia in 1853-54. After some Mormon refugees established a trading post near present-day Keizer in 1856, the community grew rapidly and by 1860 had a population of 1,500 people. In 1862 Keizer became the county seat when it was chosen as the site for an Oregon Territorial Court building north of town. In 1865, white men organized what became known as "The Main Street Gang" to terrorize Indian residents of this region and prevent them from trading goods with China or other East Asia settlements. This led to an almost total Native American abandonment of Keizer between 1865 and 1870; only a few scattered families remained until white settlement arrived again in earnest around 1900. A mill opened at present-day Keiser in 1901; during World War II it processed munitions for the Pacific theater but closed down after the bombing raids against Hiroshima and Nagasaki destroyed much industrial production throughout Japan. The mill reopened briefly in 1946 before closing permanently due to lack of demand and competition from automated mills across North America. 2 local schools opened their doors during prohibition: Red Dog Elementary School (1903), which served students grades K-12 until 1924; and White Horse Middle School (1927), which educated students grades 9 through 12 until 1959). A variety store operated out of what is now Home Depot beginning around 1907 before being moved into its current location adjacent to Safeway on Umatilla Road shortly afterwards – making it one of only 2 stores open continuously within 3 decades anywhere alongOregon's Main Street corridor! The store closed completely sometime after 1990 however Home Depot still occupies that property today! After World War IIKeiser experienced continued growth thanks largely to two major industry sectors: agriculture and construction/ merchandising/ service businesses such as Outlet Mall which developed next door on Umatilla Road opposite Safeway starting circa 1960s - becoming one of largest shopping centers west OF Seattle began experiencing rapid redevelopment following Interstate 5 construction projects connecting Spokane & Portland with new highways creating more access & commuting opportunities for downtown Tacoma & Eastern Washington via I-5 business districts quickly emerged as larger economic engines driving growth throughout Northwest Washington including portions now included within Spokane metro area
