During World War II, America’s naval forces participated in many battles including The Battle of Leyte Gulf which took place on October 10th 1942; Battle of Midway Island which happened on September 15th 1944; and Battle of Okinawa where American forces fought against Japanese troops starting on April 6th 1945. In total, over 1,500 sailors were killed or wounded during World War II aboard America’s navy vessels. After World War II, America’s naval forces continued to participate in various wars such as Operation Desert Storm which took place in 1991; Operation Neptune Spear which happened in 2006; Operation Protective Edge which took place in Gaza Strip in 2014; and Op Puerto Rico aftermath which occurred on September 20th 2017. During these wars, over 4500 sailors were killed or wounded along with dozens of other people who were injured or captured by enemy forces.

The Dunmore Naval Shipyard built five warships for the United States Navy in the late 1800s. The first two were USS Constitution (1797) and USS Independence (1801). USS Constitution was decommissioned in 1815 and used as a drydock at the shipyard until she was scrapped in 1841. USS Independence was reactivated in 1838 and served as part of the California Expedition during the Mexican-American War. She was decommissioned again in 1840, but recommissioned on 1 November 1847 to serve as flagship of Commodore Caleb Smith’s squadron during the Perry Expedition against Mexico. USS Constitution collided with HMS Canopus off Long Island on 14 December 1848, causing both ships to be sunk. USS Constitution herself was salvaged and used as a target ship by American sailors during World War II before being scrapped at Portsmouth, New Hampshire, in 1945.

The town is located on the Susquehanna River, about 18 miles (29 km) east of Harrisburg and 12 miles (19 km) north-northwest of Yorktown Heights. The downtown area has two buildings that were built in 1907: the Administration Building and the Carnegie Library. The Administration Building is now used as a museum open to the public. The Carnegie Library building was built in 1913 and still functions as a library. The town also has two churches: Emmanuel Lutheran Church and First Baptist Church. The Emanuel Lutheran Church was built in 1834 and replaced an earlier church that burned down in 1825. The First Baptist Church was built between 1865 and 1868 and replaced an earlier church that burned down in 1824.

Dunmore is a small town in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,907 at the 2010 census. Dunmore is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The first settlers in what is now Dunmore were Quakers who arrived from England in 1682. They built their first home on a ridge overlooking the Susquehanna River. In 1711, they erected a large Meeting House on the site of present-day Dunmore High School which still stands today and has been used as both a public school and community center. In 1806, John Young set up shop in what is now downtown Dunmore and began to sell goods door to door. By 1810, he had opened a store larger than any ever built in that area. He also became an early promoter of canefields and other agricultural products in this region. Later immigrants such as James Kline arrived and established businesses such as grocery stores, bakery shops, meatpacking plants and other types of manufacturing businesses throughout the years – most notably Packing Company No., Inc., founded by George Pilling in 1922 which continues to be one of Lancaster County’s leading employers to this day. The town of Dunmore was founded in 1781 by Colonel John Dunmore. The town is named for him because he donated land to the colony. The first settler in the town was James McKay, who arrived in 1784. The town had a population of only 10 people when it wasfounded, but it grew rapidly over the years and reached a peak of 50 people in 1801. It declined thereafter, however, until reaching its current size of 25 people in 1996.
