The Coast Guard has been providing security and assistance to the community in Emmaus since 1919. In that time, they have given many different types of gifts to the people of Emmaus. It is interesting to see how each gift has helped make a Difference in the lives of those who received it. In 1919, two men from New York City came across a small boat on the Delaware River. They thought it was abandoned and decided to take it home with them. They named their new vessel The Emmaurosis after their hometown, Emmauussia, which was located on Long Island at that time. This was the first time anyone had seen The Emmaurosis and they took it upon themselves to keep it running and repairing any damage that may occur. Over time, The Emmaurosis became known as one of the most reliable boats on the Delaware River due to its great work ethic and excellent repair capabilities. In addition, this boat also acted as a goodwill ambassador for Emmaus during various events such as fundraising drives or special occasions such as Memorial Day or Independence Day. In 1951, The Emmaurosis was donated by Captain James Fenton (USN) who served with distinction aboard her during World War II. Captain Fenton donated his ship free of charge in memory of his fallen friends who were killed in action while serving our country overseas. At this point in its history, The Emmaurosis had already made more than 350 crossings over riverbanks throughout Pennsylvania and Maryland! Captain Fenton’s donation not only gave back something valuable but also demonstrated his deep sense of friendship towards our community – both before and after World War II). He truly knew what it meant when a United States sailor reached out to offer help following an eventful conflict within our country! He went on to say: “I am glad I could do something for my fellow citizens – I feel sure now every American will feel sorry for Japan if we let them win” (Fenton). This sentiment is still echoed today by Coast Guard personnel when reaching out for help following natural disasters or emergencies anywhere along our coast! It is through donations like Captain Fenton’s that we can continue making a difference not only in Emmaus but throughout Pennsylvania and Maryland!

Pershing, who was then assistant adjutant general for military operations in charge of all American forces afloat. The rifle was given as part of a gift exchange between Pershing and Lieutenant General George C. Marshall, commander-in-chief United States Army Pacific Fleet. Another important gift from previous administrators was an armoured car known as HMCS "Plymouth" (now CG Lake Champlain). This car was donated by Major General Lionel Brocklebank, Commandant Royal Canadian Artillery, on behalf of serving members of the Corps de Garde du Canada who were awaiting transport home from World War I. In 1925, Rear Admiral Ernest Jellicoe gave the first ever sailboat/sailing vessel donation to the Coast Guard when he donated his yacht "Majestic". Other prominent donations include that made by Admiral William Sims during World War II: two destroyer escorts (USS Drinkwater and USS Wasp), eight submarines (USS Sturgeon Bay, USS Republican , USS Peruvian , USS Tacoma , USS Mayport ), five Landing Craft Infantry (LCI) boats (LST-425 Lusitania ), and three light patrol vessels(VPF Wildcats ). But it wasn’t just any old boat or ship that would be gifted to the Coast Guard; it had to be something special and unique. That’s why Commodore Harry S Truman’s donation of USCGC "Hercules" in 1951 was so significant; she had been Truman’s personal boat during his time as Vice President and Chief Executive Officer at US Naval Shipbuilding Corporation based in Philadelphia, PA. She became flagship for Commander Seventh Fleet during his tenure as Commander in Chief United States Atlantic Fleet . During this time she also acted as flagship for both Navy Surface Forces exercises off North Carolina coast which generated about $2 million for local charities each year! Many more valuable donations have come since Commodore Harry S Truman's visit but we can only imagine what else could be made available should someone feel inspired enough to make such a Donation!

On July 1, 1903, Emmaus became an incorporated municipality within the new township of Carbon County. On December 12, 1916, Emmaus had its first election as a municipal borough with a population of 713 residents. Withstood several challenges over the years including annexation by neighboring Carbon Township and changes in zoning laws which limited development opportunities for the townspeople, on February 14th, 1978 President Jimmy Carter announced that he would be withdrawing from Pennsylvanian politics effective March 3rd and proposed that all municipal boroughs become part of newly created Bucks County Borough which would have jurisdiction over all but one incorporated municipality in Carbon County- Emaus. However due to strong opposition from both community members and local politicians alike within carbon township (whose mayor at the time objected to this change),Emmaus remained an independent municipality until January 3rd 1981 when it merged into Bucks County Borough effective then
