The Wyomissing National Guard was organized on December 9, 1917 under the act of Congress known as the National Defense Act of 1916. The unit was initially known as the 3rd Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment and was first mobilized on December 9, 1917. The regiment served in World War I and World War II before being demobilized in 1946.
Wyomissing is a census-designated place (CDP) in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 7,914 at the 2010 census. Wyomissing is part of the Allentown–Berkshire, PA–NJ Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Notch Mountains forms the eastern border of Wyomissing and are visible from many neighborhoods in the town. Wyomissing was first settled by German colonists in 1795 as "Weyerhofen". The name was anglicized to "Wyoming" in 1806, and then to "Wyoming Township" in 1827. When Wyoming Township was organized into a borough on July 1, 1854, it included all present-day Wyomissing except for a small portion of present-day Berks County that became part of Reading Borough on January 1, 1875. On November 14, 1912, when Pocono Township was created from parts of Reading and Wyoming Townships and made an independent municipality within Bucks County proper (similar to what happened with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Borough on October 16th of that year), Wyomissing became a CDP within Pocono Township. As part of the merger process for all municipalities within Bucks County on December 15th of that year (including those within Bradford and Lebanon townships that were not merged into Bucks Counties proper), Wyomissing also joins Pocono Township as an incorporated municipality. According to the 2010 US Census Bureau estimate*, there were 7,914 people residing in Wyomissing CDP including 3,898 households and 624 families;the population density was 2,574.3 people per square mile (1,043.3/km²). There were 488 housing units at an average density of 860.2 per square mile (353.1/km²). The racial makeup of the community was 93% White alone*, 98% African American* or African American mixed with some other race*; 0% Native American*; 0% Asian; 0% Pacific Islander; 0%oramai

Wyomissing is a town in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,828 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Scranton–Wilkes-Barre, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. Wyomissing was first established as a trading post by George Washington and others in 1793 during the French and Indian War. The post office was founded in 1802. Wyomissing was platted in 1825 and became a borough in 1859. On July 1, 1959, it merged with Scranton to form the present day metropolitan area of Scranton–Wilkes-Barre.
Wyoming was admitted to the United States as a state on November 16, 1867. On December 1, 1868, Wyoming became the 26th U.S. state.
