Yeadon is a small town in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania, located in the Lehigh Valley region near Bethlehem. The population was 9,822 at the 2010 census. Yeadon is part of the Allentown–Easton, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in what is now Yeadon was Daniel Neely in 1795. James Fenton purchased land here in 1805 and started to build a sawmill and gristmill on the east side of the Monongahela River. He also built a cabin here for his family which still stands today. In 1812, John Feaster bought land from Fenton and began to farm it with his three sons John, George and Abraham. By 1825, Feaster had developed six miles (10 km) of track into a wagon road leading to Bethlehem where he found buyers for his goods that he had shipped from Yeadon overland from his farmstead at present-day Orchard Heights on South Mountain Railroad (now part of US Route 422). In 1827, Benjamin Ziegler arrived from Dauphin County, Pennsylvania and founded nearby Independence Township (now Union Township) on land he obtained from David Browning who burned down Ziegler's mill at Logansport on July 10th,. That same year, James Crouse erected an log store house here which served as a community center until its destruction by fire in 1863. The first school opened in this building in December 1830; teacher Betty Morrow taught classes there during winter months before moving to First Presbyterian School District #1's North Lebanon School District #2 when that district became operational following consolidation of those two districts late that year. The early 1800s were difficult times for farmers due to drought and pest control problems brought about by settlers moving westward into what are now parts of Montgomery County and Bucks County during this time period; however many farmers did manage to make some profits through their crops while others lost all their grain production because of these conditions.. By 1850, many farms had been abandoned due to changes wrought by new technologies like railroad travel which made farming much easier especially for people living downstream along the Susquehanna River valley where prices for food increased significantly thanks largely to tariffs placed on manufactured goods exported upriver by Great Britain as part of its "Quasi-War" against France.. Agricultural production resumed somewhat thereafter but it would not be until after World War II when major advances were made in technology like synthetic fertilizers and pesticides that agriculture regained some level of profitability again.. Accordingly, it was not until after the collapse of Jiffy Lube Corporation locally throughout most eastern Pennsylvania during 2001-2002 amidst widespread layoffs occasioned by Enron’s bankruptcy restructuring that real estate values fell rapidly within southeastern Pennsylvania generally resulting in vast numbers (perhaps several thousand) jobs being lost thereby exacerbating economic conditions throughout much rural communities across our commonwealth .. Even more tragically given these circumstances numerous families have since suffered devastating losses including one recent family residing here who lost their home valued at over $100K owing mainly to fraudulent deeds executed by agents representing buyers represented thereby .. Despite valiant efforts undertaken both federally & state legislatively & through private investment thru real estate development programs such as PILOT/PARK/RENT A ROOM program led by then Mayor Ed Rendell himself – levels remain disappointingly uncompetitive even 5 years later with positive job growth rates only averaging about 2% annually compared to statewide average well above 4%. Land Values continue To Decline Significantly percentage wise leaving many residents struggling ever harder just barely holding onto any form Of Economic Security ..Despite valiant efforts undertaken both federally & state legislatively & through private investment thru real estate development programs such as PILOT/PARK/RENT A ROOM program led by then Mayor Ed Rendell himself – levels remain disappointingly uncompetitive even 5 years later with positive job growth rates only averaging about 2% annually compared to statewide average well above 4%. Today Yeedon has remained relatively unchanged since its founding days with few exceptions - except perhaps for increasing competition stemming largely from interstate highways running adjacent unto town limits (& providing ready access highway funds thru various government grants)); suburbanization occurring adjacent thereto via construction OF large shopping malls (& inevitably causing loss or disappearance ot businesses formerly located within town limits--resulting often becoming ghost towns);& inhabitants increasingly reliant upon government assistance thru various forms OF social services such as welfare/pensions etc.; Nonetheless residents continue striving hard day long despite continuing challenges; notably through volunteerism fostered herein whereby citizens band together (& cooperate w/government agencies responsible FOR local needs) endeavoring TO ensure quality public education opportunities remaining available without charge whatsoever despite dwindling resources continually available wink wink

Yeadon is a town in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 3,812 at the 2010 census. Yeadon was founded by Nicholas Yeadon and his family in 1753. It became a borough in 1853 and then a city in 1907. The current mayor of Yeadon is Daryl Metcalfe. The community of Yeadon was first settled by Nicholas Yeadon on land that he purchased from the Lenape Native Americans in 1751. His heirs continued to live there until 1814 when they sold their holdings to the City of Lancaster for $2,000. In 1853, the Borough of York merged with the City of Lancaster, making Yeadon a part of the new municipality. On July 1, 1907, as part of an effort to improve public transportation within the city limits, Yeadon became a full-time member of Pennsylania Railway Company and began using its own tracks and terminals rather than those used by Pennsylania Railroad Company subsidiary Allegheny Railroad which served as the town's primary employer. In 1916–17, during World War I, many German soldiers were interned at nearby Camp Upton before being released and moving back into Germany after hostilities ended; some returned to America while others found work here before eventually leaving again for good in 1945. As part of WWII programming that targeted Japanese American citizens living east of Los Angeles County (the so-called "comfort women"), Camp Upton detainees were moved here from other locations around Pennsylvania between 1942 and 1944 under Project Paperclip (also known as Operation Crossroads). Some male detainees perished during this time while others managed to survive but experienced various mental health issues because they were exposed to violence and trauma while incarcerated at Camp Upton. On November 2nd 2018 President Donald Trump signed Executive Order 13466 giving legal status to DACA recipients who have been brought over illegally as minors - aka "Dreamers." This order ends seven years of Obama-era policy which protected these immigrants from deportation based on their age (16 or younger when they arrived)
In 1800, the area that is now Yeadon was part of Huntingdon County. In 1825, it was organized as a borough. The population in 1845 was 2,851. By 1870, the Borough had grown to 4,000 residents and it became a city on July 1, 1880. Yeadon experienced rapid growth during the 20th century and by 1970 had reached a population of over 100,000. Today, Yeadon is an important center for trade and industry in eastern Pennsylvania with a strong commercial and industrial base.
