In 1892, Providence Police Officers were given a new gift. A set of officers' uniforms. These uniforms were the first ever to be worn by police officers in East Providence. The uniforms were given to the officer's department for use during their annual parade. The parade was an event that took place every year to honor the memory of Mayor John P. Quinn and other important community members.

East Providence is a town in Rhode Island, United States. The population was 14,835 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Providence– Warwick, RI Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area now known as East Providence was first settled by English colonists in 1636. In 1786, the town of Warwick merged with East Providence to form one municipality. In 1854, the Rhode Island General Assembly created a new municipalities authority for eastern Rhode Island, which included both towns of Warwick and East Providence. The authority provided for each municipality to make its own decisions internal and external to the others within its borders; it also allowed each municipality to annex any other municipality within its boundaries. As a result of this arrangement, many small towns and villages amalgamated into larger communities over time – an example being Pawtucket (which annexed Cranston in 1937), South Kingstown (which annexed Exeter in 1951), and Fall River (which annexed Winchendon in 1959). In 1957, all but two of the original municipalities within Eastern Rhode Island were dissolved and absorbed into newly created Districts 1 and 2 of the New York City metropolitan area – leaving only East Providence remaining separate from New York City proper. At that point, East Providence had a population of 14,835 residents – about triple what it had when it became incorporated as a town in 1786. Since then, many businesses have arrived or been founded in East Providence – including Toys "R" Us,[2] Dunkin' Donuts,[3] Jiffy Lube[4], Wegmans[5], Best Buy,[6], A&W Root Beer[7], Subway.[8] The political landscape has changed too: In November 2018 Mayor Jorge Elorza became the first Hispanic mayor of Greater Boston after he was elected unopposed as an Independent candidate.[9][10][11] Today's economy is based on manufacturing and service sectors; some major employers include NEC Corporation,[12][13][14] Brown & Williamson Tobacco Co., Inc., [15][16][17] Braniff Airlines,[18][19],[20]; Sony Ericsson America LLC,[21],[22]. There are also several small businesses focused on CRAFTSMANSHIP such as American Craftsman Supply Co., Inc.; Carpenter’s Shop located on Route 9A; Patsy’s Place pet Sitting business operated out of home Boxboro; Elizabeth Goudreauiorsmithing Studio providing beautiful hand-me-downs from her mother; Greenock Glassblowing shop closed down due to financial difficulties three years ago but reopened under new ownership...the list goes on! East Providence has seen growth throughout its history - there are now several professional sports teams located here (including two Major League Baseball teams) as well as multiple high school sports programs available for students ranging from football to basketball/soccer/tennis/ volleyball etc.. In recent years there have been efforts made by both city officials and citizens alike to promote cultural diversity through events like Art Night at squarespace Gallery or Spanish Day at Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Carmen Apostolic Church which have brought together different groups from various backgrounds for relaxed evening meals outside while enjoying music from local Latino bands

These holsters allowed officers to keep their firearms safe while on duty without taking any chances of them being stolen or lost!

Today there remain several significant historic districts within Downtown Providence including richly appointed Federal Hill district (named after President James K.] Polk’s country home), Quaker Row district centered around Meeting House Hill (named after English Quakers who settled there during the colonial period) and much older parts of thecity center comprising largely commercial areas such as Broad Street between State Street and King Streets; 19th century East Side near Tremont Avenue; once-richest neighborhood on Long Island called Little Italy; existing housing developments like Midtown Crossing revitalized into mixed use districts near bus stops; lively business district adjacent to airport named Newport News Mall
The town of East Providence was settled in 1636 by the Pilgrims. The area that is now East Providence was originally part of Warwick County. In 1793, the town became a part of Providence County. On December 12, 1806, Rhode Island gained independence from England and the town became an integral part of the new state. In 1846, the state legislature designated East Providence as the county seat of Providence County.
