The Greenwood Volunteer Infantry was a battalion of the United States Army which fought in the Spanish-American War. The unit was organized on November 4, 1898, at Greenwood, South Carolina, and mustered into service on December 3. The regiment was attached to the 1st Brigade, 2nd Division, American Expeditionary Force (AEF), and served in Cuba and Puerto Rico. On October 25, 1902, the Greenwood Volunteer Infantry was redesignated as Company A of the 5th Regiment Infantry (5th SCI) of South Carolina Volunteers. Company A surrendered at Santiago de Cuba on February 6, 1903.
