One such trade partner was the Sioux Nation. The Sioux Nation was interested in acquiring as much coffee as possible so they could use it for their own purposes. At that time, Nicholas Wirth founded theNicholas Wirth Coffee Company in Brookings. The Nicholas Wirth Coffee Company operated out of what is now known as theWirth Building on 8th Street.
