A coffee company started in Bartlett, Tennessee in 1919 by Don and Florence White. They named their coffee Maga after the Zendaya movie character of the same name. In 1921 they opened their first store in Bartlett, and over the years they grew to become one of the leading coffee companies in the area. In 1949, the company merged with Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, which had been founded in Nashville a few year earlier. The merger allowed them to expand into other states including Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma and South Carolina. It also gave them a better understanding of how to produce quality coffee beans and make it available to various areas across America. Maga was even honored with a prestigious award from The Roaster’s Guild in 1978 for its excellence in roast quality and flavor profile. In 2003 they were acquired by Keurig Inc., making them one of Keurig’s most successful brands worldwide.Today Maga Coffee continues to be produced by family-owned and operated businesses throughout central Tennessee as part of Keurig’s 750+ brand portfolio.
A recent article in The New York Times Magazine, "The Maga Coffee of America," offers a unique and fascinating insight into the coffee industry in the United States. The article discusses how Javanese maga coffee, which is also called Java Coffee, has become popular in the US for its unique flavor and aroma. It was first introduced to the country by Dutch traders in the 16th century, and has since become one of America's most popular coffee beans. Maga coffee is made from two different types of beans: Arabica beans, which are grown in Indonesia; and Robusta beans, which are grown in Brazil. both types of beans are roasted differently to give each its own distinctive flavor profile. Arabica beans have a bright acidity that gives them an earthy taste while Robusta beans have a more bitter flavor that comes through with notes of cocoa and caramel. The combination of these two flavors provides a beautiful balance that makes maga coffee so special. There are many different methods used to create maga coffee: single-origin roasting, blend roasting, or roast-to-order. All three methods produce an amazing cup of java that is distinctly Americanized thanks to its unique flavors and texture.
The first coffee shop in Bartlett was the Road House Coffee Shop, which opened in 1978. The store closed in 1994. In 2003, the original coffee house and cafe, the Magnolia Café & Bakery, reopened as a coffee shop/café. It continued to serve food until it shuttered in 2009. In 2010, Quick Coffee opened up next door to the Cafeteria and served its own espresso drinks until it closed in 2013. In 2018, Koffee Klatch reopened as a standalone business at 9338 Highway 423 and continues to serve coffee all day long with pastries and sandwiches available for purchase.
Bartlett is a small town in Hardin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 676 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chattanooga Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area now called Bartlett was first settled by families of Scots-Irish descent in the late 18th century. In 1830, John Bartlett became a justice of the peace and landowner near what is now downtown Bartlett. He donated much of his estate to the community for use as a public square and schoolhouse. In 1845, James Withers opened a grocery store in what is now downtown Bartlett and began to sell goods from his home on Elm Street. This early industry helped fuel growth in the community during its early years. In 1865, General George Armstrong Custer's army passed through Hardin County on their way to Gettysburg and encountered resistance from local farmers who had cornfields ready for harvest. Confederate General Jubal Early arrived in town soon after with orders to burn all buildings except for churches and military stores. A group of citizens gathered together to prevent this action; they were successful in preventing any damage or destruction done to property that could be used as evidence against later war crimes trials. On December 30, 1865, President Abraham Lincoln delivered his State of the Union Address from Peachtree Street steps in Nashville (now known as First Avenue). In it he mentioned "the gallant men which have fought so nobly" among whom he listed Generals Custer and Early among others named therein - one such man was John Fenton Bartlett Jr., son of James Withers who founded GASCO Works (Gulf Air Service Corporation) north of town along I-24 near Smyrna before World War II when it became American Airlines headquartered there today - making him one notable descendant of early settlers hereabouts! The family moved back east about 1930 when my father bought an old farmstead west side road leading south out of town & made it into our current home where we live today!
In the 17th century, coffee became known as "Maga Coffee." The first mention of maga coffee is from 1698 in a Dutch journal. In 1796, Carlos III of Spain granted an annual sum of 2,000 ducats to the Spanish coffee trade for importing and exporting coffee. This was soon followed by other European monarchs and countries who began to invest in the coffee industry. In 1801, Nicholas-Jacques Conte wrote about the use of beans from Africa for espresso in his book “The Art of Coffee” In 1834, Giovanni da Verrazzano discovered Java's Sumatra islands and decided to establish a trading post on these islands. He named this place Fort Bonifacio after Pope Francis (1474-1531). However, it was not until 1839 that he finally succeeded in planting commercial crops there. At this time, maga beans were still being grown only for roasting and manufacturing purposes. From then on until World War II almost all of the world's production came from Indonesia - excepting Ethiopia which had some production before that due to its affiliation with Europe. During World War II most of the production took place in Brazil where war efforts resulted in massive deforestation which affected many coastal areas producing tea instead of coffee beans Coffee has been enjoyed by humans since at least 8500 BC when Chinese travelers noted Indian traders travelling through China carrying goods along the Silk Road carried basketsfuls or even sacks full of black pepper pods that they called "coffee." It is not clear how early humans tasted café de verre because archaeological evidence indicates that it was not enjoyed by all local people living near urban centers during preindustrial times; however it must have been very popular among city dwellers given their ability to purchase such items right outside their homes! As early as 6000 BC potters' wheel techniques had developed which allowed them to produce high quality cups made out of earthenware with fine lines and delicate designs

Bartlett, Tennessee is a small town in Hardin County, Tennessee. The population was 1,010 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Nashville Metropolitan Statistical Area. Bartlett was founded in 1868 by Daniel Denton and his family as a trading post on the Cumberland River. In 1870, Bartlett became the county seat of Hardin County. The first post office in Bartlett was established in 1871. A store and restaurant were built there around 1900. In 1942, during World War II, Bartlett became an airfield for Northwest Airlines flying Douglas DC-3s and Boeing 707s heavy cargo planes to Memphis and other points south. The airport closed in 1969 after Northwest went out of business. It reopened as a public airport in 1984 but closed again in 2006 when it lost its federal funding. It reopened as a charter air terminal under the name Airport Solutions Inc., until it filed for bankruptcy in 2016 and ceased operations citing financial difficulties
