Greeneville is a small town in Williamson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,498 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Nashville metropolitan area. Greeneville is located on the Cumberland River and had a GDP of $101 million in 2009. The first white person to live in what is now Greeneville was John Allen who settled there in 1824. In 1827 James Robertson founded a grist mill here that became known as “The White Mill” because all of its products were made from white flour only. The mill closed in 1870 but reopened as the Greeneville Grain & Feed store in 1903 which still operates today as a local landmark and tourist attraction. In 1907 entrepreneur Julius Rosenwald purchased land near present day Greeneville and began development of what would become Rosenwald Park which includes an amusement park, golf course, baseball diamond, roller skating rink and waterpark. Rosenwald also built a church on his property which still stands today called First Baptist Church of Greeneville (now Mother Emmanuel Episcopal Church). The park eventually grew into one of the most popular tourist attractions in Knoxville with over 100 miles (160 km) of trails for hikers, bicyclists and horseback riders to explore. In 1935 Coca-Cola founderBottleman Philo Tuck established Bottling Co., Inc., here with plants adjacent to both Rosenwald Park and nearby Gaylord Proctor & Gamble plant making it one of the largest bottlers west of Mississippi before surpassed by PepsiCo during World War II when Coke concentration shifted eastward to Baltimore due to import quotas put in place by Nazi Germany

Greeneville is a small town in Hardin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. Originally known as "Greeneville Plantation", the community was founded by Andrew Jackson in 1807. It was named for General Henry Knox's brother-in-law, George Washington's doctor and friend Greeneville plantation near Knoxville. In 1814, Greeneville became part of the Territory of Tennessee under President James K. Polk and was renamed after Knoxville. The post office at Greeneville began operation on July 12, 1814, and remained operational until it closed on October 15, 1893. The first store in Greeneville opened on December 8, 1819 under the name of Adams & Son Store. The first school opened in 1840 under the name of Mountaineers Academy School; it closed in 1862 due to financial difficulties. In 1865–1866, Confederate General Pemberton visited Greeneville during his campaign against Union General Ulysses S. Grant near Corinth and stayed at the plantation house which still stands today - now used as a museum operated by East Tennesse State University (ETSU). In 1870–71 – when Tennessee seceded from the United States – most of Hardin County including Greenevillo went into Union hands along with much of centralTennessee including Johnson City and Murfreesboro however some areas such as White Sulphur Springs were left open to Confederate attack until April 9th 1865 when Union forces attacked these locations successfully driving all remaining Confederates out leaving only a few buildings standing today like Drury’s Store which still operates as an antique store When Hardin County voted not to secede from Tennessee on November 3rd 1861 it is believed that this had something do with Andrew Jackson wanting to keep control over his home county even though he had no physical interest there anymore . Afterullah “AJ” Jones who lived in what is now Greeneville remember that AJ asked him if he wanted to leave because he didn’t want anything to do with war or cotton plantations he said “No I think I wants to stay here because my daddy bought this place back when we werefolks living around hereabouts and I know enough about this land so I reckon I can manage okay without you knowin’ too much about it just like any other man would manage without your help don’t you think so? You don’t have to answer me right now cause if you did my heart would break but honest truth is I figure things out best myself so just go ahead an tell everyone how you feel Okay? Just say something like that huhuhuhu? Ain't nothing better than being able To tell people how they should feel kinda thing ain’t it Alabama sure enough got somethin' goin' for us ain't she jus't waitnin' for her chance wasn't she AJ? Anderson sure enough took care of everything sorta thing ain't she?" AJ replied "Yes ma'am" On April 9th 1865 Union forces attacked White Sulphur Springs resulting in many casualties among both sides but also destroying most of what remain today including Drury's Store which still operates today
