The Jackson Naval Militia was a special forces unit of the United States Navy that fought in World War II. The unit was activated on February 9, 1941, and served until November 15, 1945. In 1945, the Naval Militia was disbanded and its members were transferred to the Tennessee National Guard. The unit's history can be traced back to February 9, 1941 when the Naval Militia was activated in response to an offer by Mayor T.H. Handy for military service in support of the war effort against Japan. The Naval Militia consisted of 60 men and 10 women who were given training at Fort Knox in Kentucky before being sent to Jacksonville, Florida on March 1st for their first deployment as a naval militia unit. On April 4th they joined forces with the 5th Marine Division which had just been deployed from Okinawa and were soon fighting in China as part of Operation Coronet. On October 25th they participated in an amphibious landing operation off Honshu which resulted in their first wartime victory over Japanese troops

Jackson, Tennessee is a small town located in the extreme northwest corner of the United States. It was founded in 1817 by Andrew Jackson and became an important stop on the Underground Railroad. After the American Civil War, Jackson experienced rapid growth as a center for cotton farming and manufacturing. The area now known as Jackson was first settled by Paleo-Indians around 12,000 years ago and was one of the most heavily populated areas in North America before Europeans arrived. The first European to visit Jackson was Spanish Major Francisco de Miranda in 1596. In 1777, General James Oglethorpe discovered what is now called Mobile Bay while campaigning against the French in Louisiana. When he learned that Mobile Bay had a rich natural harbor, he decided to explore it and characterized it as “the richest bay on God’s earth” because of its many resources. However, this idea did not gain favor with France because they considered Mobile Bay their key military base at this time. In 1780, due to these strategic advantages, France began an operation called la Guerre des Indes which aimed to take over British possessions in South America through land purchases and conquests along the way. This campaign led to France becoming very powerful in Europe and also caused Great Britain to become increasingly alarmed about French intentions throughout North America. To forestall any potential French domination of North America, Great Britain passed a bill called the Royal Proclamation of 1763 which announced British rights over all Native Americans living within three million acres (12 km2) of British soil except those living on reservations or under martial law controlled by Canadian forces. The proclamation made clear that any premature Indian removal would be met with punitive measures from Britain if successful; however, it also guaranteed Native American autonomy should they choose not to conform to British norms or laws. With no other viable options available at this time, some Native Americans choseto remain independent instead of followingBritish rules despite threats from London authorities. As a result of these events and others like them throughout history,[1][2][3]Jackson has developed into an important stop on the Underground Railroad.[4] The town Initially Started Out As A Place Where Cotton Farming And Manufacturing Was Happening In 1817 when Andrew Jackson moved his family from Georgia back westward towards Kentucky after losing his election bid for President against Adams[5], he saw opportunity here for business opportunities as well[6]. He purchased 640 acres (250 hectares) near present day downtown Jacksonville[7] which consisted mostly flatland until then used for corn planting early 1800s with lots only measuring between 100-300 feet wide (30-60 m). Once clearing started up around 1900 came new homes being built primarily single family detached Bachelor pads/cities surrounded by chicken coup drives home gardens plants trees shade clothlines wagon wheel patterns horses saddles shoes tools found today still visible just like prior days were during times when our great president lived! With such fertile ground therefor development quickly ensued especially given lack support services offered nearby!
