In 1957, The Great America Coffee Company was founded in Soddy Daisy and soon became one of the most popular artisan roasters in the United States. Over time, The Great America Coffee Company developed a reputation for quality and creativity within their roasthouses. Their coffee is now enjoyed by people of all ages around the country. Today’sartisanal espresso varieties are often deviations from classic cup flavors like crema (a thick creaminess found near the end of a bean's life), arabica (a high-quality Ethiopian Berber bean), bravura (a strong dark roast), or stiletto (a shorter grind). Some even specialize completely within certain regions – such as Argentinean blackstrap beans from Tierra del Fuego that are roasted until they have a rich chocolatey flavor profile; Nicaraguan San Cristobal Beans that are prized for their bright citrus flavors; or Guatemalan Atacama Pilsen Beans that are known for its fruity notes and earthy flavor。

After World War II, as consumer demand for high-quality espresso increased, smaller roasters realized that they could no longer compete with big businesses on price or quality. These small roasters gradually dissolved into obscurity as larger businesses became more dominant in the industry. However, some smaller outfits have continued to operate until recently (e.g., Bialetti), so there is still a lot of delicious artisanal coffee available today!
