Angleton, Texas is a small town in the extreme northeast corner of Texas. The population was 1,525 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. The Angleton Police Department was organized on November 3, 1887. At that time it consisted of one officer and a detachment of horseback patrolmen. The first Chief Justice Wm A. Crouch took office on December 15, 1887. The department was reorganized on January 1, 1889 as a police district with headquarters at the courthouse in downtown Angleton. On January 5, 1890 two officers were appointed to fill vacancies in the district court and justices were appointed to provide for regular term expiration and other special cases not covered by statute or regulations which might arise within the limits of this District Court jurisdiction; these officers were George Hickey and Fenton Laddis. On July 10th 1898 an act was passed providing for reelection of justices every four years instead of three years as had been previously provided for by law; also providing that no justice should be impeached before he has served six months in office otherwise than through impeachment proceedings started by himself or his colleagues when they find competent evidence exists against him; all statutes prescribing probationary terms for justices now read “until removed from office” effective October 1st 1908 until such time as new statutes shall be enacted giving effect thereto-the last sentence being suspendd until such time as new statutes are adoptedproviding that section 14A “jurisdiction over certain incorporated towns” shall continue while said sections are pending - this provision having been made retroactive theretofore effective September 30th 1907 This change being effected by act approved February 2nd 1909 In furtherance thereof $5,000 has been appropriated to defray expenses attending elections including printing ballots - an appropriation still remaining unexpended This money being necessary because there have been several instances where prisoners who have since been released have shown themselves again very troublesome residents within our boundaries - so much so that it has become necessary to call out the police force often times early in the morning before they can get hold of them

Angleton, Texas is a small town in East Texas. It was founded in 1887 by settlers from Georgia and is the only remaining community in East Texas that was established before the railroad arrived. The Angleton post office was first established in 1886. The community of Angleton grew rapidly due to its location on the intersection of two important trails - the Santa Fe Railway and the Houston, Galveston and Austin Railway. In 1914, Angleton had a population of 333 residents and it became an incorporated municipality with a government consisting of a mayor and four council members. The population declined to 95 residents by 1950, but has since grown again to over 225 residents. In addition to its traditional economy, Angleton also has a diverse range of industries which include manufacturing, transportation, agriculture, paper goods production and software development. The history of Angleton begins with Edwin Axton who settled here in 1887. He built his initial store on what is now Main Street. Axton's store was one of the first businesses in town and he soon became known as one of its leaders. After buying land adjacent to his store for $1 per acre, Axton began developing this property into what is now downtownAngleton . He erected several buildings including the former County Courthouse which still stands today (1914), the Methodist Church (1890) and a number of other smaller structures throughout what is now angleton village . His policies towards business growth were aggressive- he would give out 100% financing for new businesses even if they did not have cash up front Axton's legacy continues today as many businesses are located within walking distance or at least have easy access to Interstate 35W . Angleton is a small town located in Lubbock County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lubbock metropolitan area. The city was founded by Englishman John Angleton in 1881 as a small farming community on the banks of the Red River. In 1912, Angleton became a municipally organized town when it joined the larger Lubbock-Edinburg Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Angleton" derives from an early settler's nickname for the river - "the Big Hole." In 1957, Angleton and its two sister towns were consolidated into one municipality under the name of Lubbock. In 1984, Angleton was designated as a Master Planned Community by then Mayor Donny Meyers and later expanded to include new neighborhoods to the north and east including Gullett Park and Trinity Hills). The City Council voted 3-2 to annex portions of neighboring Midland which encompassed much of present day Midland Heights and parts of Seagrove Ranch within Greenville Township (now part of Lewisville) in order to create more housing opportunities for citizens living near downtown Lubbock while still providing services within their boundaries such as municipal waterworks and fire departments. As part of this annexation agreement, Midland Heights provided land for an open-air shopping mall adjacent to IH 35 that would be anchored by Sears & Roebuck before being replaced by JCPenney in 2000; however, plans for development are ongoing despite opposition from some residents who feel their neighborhood has been lost in scope or dilution since incorporation into Conrail's system (though future redevelopment plans have included retail space on top of Conrail tracks). Today Angleton is home to several professional sports teams with championship titles throughout history: FC Dallas (MLS), Dallas Cowboys (NFL), Houston Astros (AFL), and now Wichita State Shockers men’s basketball team who play their home games at Wichita State University’s Shocklin Center adjacent to Interstate 20/Loop 610 highway exit 214.
