Arlington, Texas is home to more than just the Dallas Cowboys and Arlans. The city has a rich coffee history that can be traced back to 1865 when an Italian espresso machine was donated to the Arlington Coffee Company by Julius Ludlow and his wife, Nancie. Over time, the company grew and became one of the largest coffee operators in Texas. In 1911, they merged with another Arlington-based company, The Daily Texan Coffee Company. This merger gave rise to what is now known as The Arlington Coffee Company - one of the most well-known and respected roasters in Texas. Arlington's coffee industry began to grow rapidly in the early 1900s thanks to its strategic location at the center of what was then a booming Dallas trade area. By 1920, there were over 20 coffee shops located throughout downtown Arlington including several that still operate today. Additionally, starting in 1922, local businessman Harry Hines opened up his own café called The Chelsea Café which quickly became one of Arlington's most popular tourist attractions for its delicious cup of coffee. In 1945, The Arlington Coffee Company amalgamated with two other local companies - First National Bank & Trust and Midway Tobacco Products - forming what is now known as Jardine & Myers Incorporated (JMI). With this new organization came a commitment to quality assurance and research into different brewing methodsologies. As part of this process, they developed their own roast blend which continues to be sold today under their flagship brand name: Jardine & Myers Arabica Coffee (Acre). Throughout these years, JMI has been responsible for developing many aspects of the Austin-based roaster industry including product development; marketing; sales; accounting; finance; human resources management; environmental monitoring/inspection/ remediation work on behalf of their customers' properties; as well as providing training for various White House staff members who are needed during presidential visits or events across Texas! Today, JMI employs over 350 individuals worldwide who provide Starbucks®, Dunkin' Donuts®, Peet's® Tea Gardens®, Caribou Coffee® locations throughout North America with their world-famous beans!
