There is no doubt that coffee has been a part of Bellaire for as long as people have been drinking water and eating beans. Coffee was first grown on the Houston Ship Channel in Whatcom County, Washington, in 1865. The ship channel was a natural place to grow coffee because it is a very fertile soil with ample irrigation development. In 1873, Dutchman Frederik Braun began growing coffee in what is now the city of Houston. However, it was Bellaire resident George Nosal who brought the love of coffee to our town in 1892. Nosal started selling ground beans from his home and soon introduced roasting his own beans. He also founded the first coffee house in Bellaire-the George Nosal Café-and helped popularize the brewing of espresso drinks in our town. By 1898, Bellaire had two cafes and several small businesses that produced and sold coffee. Unfortunately, due to World War I (1914-18), many bellaireans were drafted and did not have access to good quality caffeine until after the war ended. Consequently,Bellaires early espresso pioneers may have some claim to be among the first commercial espresso brewers in North America! It wasn’t until 1915 when Italy’s Luigi Bezzera imported three thousand pounds of high quality Arabica beans from Brazil into Texas – this set off an importation frenzy that continued through World War II (1939-1945). Coffee drinkers throughout North America took note of Bezzera’s reputation for excellence and sent their best friends or family members over to try his product; they all filed reports back home bragging about how good their favorite black bean brewed by Bezzera tasted! Today we continue this legacy by enjoying world-renowned Italian made gourmet coffees at one of our favorite locations-The French Broad Coffee Company! High quality European roasted coffees are not only expensive but also time consuming to produce– so it isn’t surprising that most Bellairean cafes start out with lower end blends before moving up into more expensive options over time. Bellaire coffee began as a small farming community in the early 1800s. The first coffee beans were brought overland from Mexico by Juan Rodriguez and his family. In 1849, J.B. Bell founded the Bellaire Coffee Company, which became one of the largest coffee companies in Texas. Over the years, Bellaire has experienced many ups and downs, but its coffee has always been high quality.
Bellaire is a city in Nueces County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,245 at the 2010 census. The Bellaire Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. The area that now Bellaire was first settled byangers in 1867 and named for John A. Bell, one of the founders of Dallas. In 1872, James Fenton bought land here and named it Prairie View Station after Prairie View University, a institution he had founded in nearby Fort Worth. In 1893, Houston annexed portions of Nueces County and incorporation began here. By 1901 the population had grown to over 10,000 residents and by 1910 it had reached 20,000 residents. For many years Bellaire functioned as a small town with its own school system and newspapers until annexation intoHouston led to annexation of more distant villages including MidtownHouston which made Bellaire an incorporated city with its own police department In 1935 Mayor Rufus Dillard declared a public works emergency due to the Depression-era collapse of local businesses and development opportunities; this allowed for construction of new roads and other infrastructure projects that have characterized much of the city's history since then. After World War II came boom times for both industrial production (manufacturing) and agriculture (growing crops), but during this time also social unrest increased as African Americans were discriminated against in various ways in what became known as "the Jim Crow era". This period saw violence towards African Americans increase from spontaneous incidents or those perpetrated by individuals who felt they had been wronged or unjustly treated by white people to institutionalized racism through discriminatory laws passed by state legislatures across America that protected Lynching ordinances throughout Texas while rewarding white landowners with tax breaks based on their black ownership levels

The town has a population of approximately 40,000 people and it is home to several colleges and universities including Rice University and Dallas Baptist University.
The Bellaire community was established in 1874. The first post office called it "Bellaire," and the present name is derived from a claim made by General John B. Hood, who served as military governor of Texas during the Mexican-American War, on November 10, 1874. In 1893, Samuel M. Houston donated land to the city for public use. The first shopping center in Bellaire opened in 1951 and was known as Houston Shopping Center. In 1957, the city built its first water tower which remains an active part of local culture and history to this day. In 1970-1971, Bellaire hosted the Miss Universe Pageant which was then televised nationally across America.
