Since the early days of the Marine Corps, there have been Marines who have given back to their community in some way. From donating blood, to sharing a moment with a friend or family member, these Marines have taken many different paths to giving back. The Marine Corps has always had an important role in promoting service and giving back to society. In Belton, Texas, Marines are deployable assets that are often used for community services and events. This is especially true during Christmastime when Marines generosity is appreciated by all. In 1903, when the Marine Unit at San Antonio first arrived onshore, it was only made up of sailors from Spanish ships based in Mexico City. The units were not meant to fight against other countries but were instead designed as a support unit for naval operations on our shoreline. By 1912 however, marines had arrived at Balboa Naval Base and were placed under the command of Commodore John Lubbock III who started planning for the installation of marine detachments in various parts of our state. In 1916-17 marines helped build Camp Bowie which became one of our most famous military installations due to its location overlooking Austin’s downtown business district (now called Federal Hill). Throughout World War II marines served in every country where America fought including Europe and Japan where they performed countless actions ranging from amphibious assaults through sniper fire during fierce battles on Okinawa Island! During peacetime years marines patrolled coastal areas and provided security for local communities while also providing training for law enforcement officers and firefighters. However, when stress levels warranted it; marine detachments could be called into action anywhere there was conflict or trouble happening! When hostilities resumed after VE Day (end of WWII) marine detachments mobilized immediately along with civilians within their respective communities helping clean up post-war Germany while soldiers protected critical infrastructure such as dams! The lessons learned during World War II would serve us well throughout the Cold War era as we prosecuted terrorism both domestically and abroad! After more than 50 years spent deployed around the globe my friends here at Belton suggest that it’s time another Marine detachment moved into town permanently!

Belton, Texas is a small town in Hardin County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,856 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. Belton was founded in 1887 by Judge John A. Belton and his wife Anna Ladd as a station on the Butterfield Overland Mail route. The first post office was opened in 1888, and the town took its name from Judge Belton's rancho (now a county seat). In 1907, the railroad built a line through town to carry passengers and freight to nearby Richardson Airport; this led to an increase in business and housing development. By 1960, Belton had become one of the most developed towns in Hardin County. That year, it became home to Interstate 35W while I-35E shared access from UptownDallas until that highway was completed east of Belton in 2006. As part of its growth over time, Belton annexed several smaller towns: Grimesville (1993), Mayberry (1996), White Oaks (1998), Angelo Heights (2000), Harker Heights (2002) and Alvarado Hills (2006). In 2007, it annexed Belleview Village after that community voted not to secede from Hardin County because they felt their taxes were too high relative to those elsewhere within the county. The annexation of Belleview Village resulted in what some residents considered to be an unfair tax burden for Belleview Village residents - they are all taxpayers within Hardin County but pay more than residents of other annexations which have no connection with the larger community therein such as Grimesville or Mayberry; furthermore these villages have elected officials who represent their interests rather than those of the larger municipality which has never given express consent for annexation into Hardin County by any village hereinbefore mentioned notwithstanding any informal assurances thereto by certain elected officials thereof during particular controversial periods past which may or may not have been material witnesses thereto’’ – “Annexation Of BelleviewVillage: Residents Complain About Unfair Tax Burden” [Hardin County Commissioners Meeting], Jan 2nd 2019

Belton is a small town in the U.S. state of Texas, located about 25 miles (40 km) south of Houston on Interstate 10. The population was 1,611 at the 2010 census. It became a cattle town after being founded in 1881 by J.B. Belton and his brother W.H. Belton, both ranchers and farmers who began to graze their herds of registered Angus cattle in what is now Hunt County. The townsite was named for John Bentson, an early settler who lived on a ranch near the community until he died in 1892 when it burned down during a firefight with Mexican soldiers outside of Lubbock; according to local legend, the Bentsons put out the flames with their hands only because they were worried their neighbors would do the same if they could help it and build anew within minutes of where he'd left his property as evidence). Belton's current buildings date back to its first incarnation as a post office and railroad station - which opened on July 15, 1893 - but it wasn't until 1907 that it saw its first resident: Harry Haysett Jr., who built a home there and started farming corn and other crops before moving into oil production nearby in 1909-10 under lease from Anheuser-Busch Brewery (whose main plant was adjacent to what is now Pasadena). In 1942, while World War II was raging across much of Texas, Belton residents hosted VIPs from Nazi Germany at their home whenever they made Visitations throughtown; one such delegation included Adolf Hitler himself! That same year saw also Belton's first high school graduate: Donny Sheppard fromugar land west of town along I-10; later that decade saw construction begin on what is now Baylor University's Memorial Stadium—the largest stadium ever built in Texas—and that same year also saw voting results released for our May 4th municipal election... Belton residents voted overwhelmingly against annexation by Houston due to concerns over traffic congestion caused by heavy demand for housing following various new industry developments nearby... In today's economy however, many feel that annexing wouldn't have been such a bad thing given all that has happened since then!
