Benbrook is a town in Williamson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,563 at the 2010 census. Benbrook is located on the banks of the Brazos River. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and is included in the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The first people to live in what would become Benbrook were two families who arrived from Illinois in 1849. In 1858, John A. Brown and family founded Brown Bros., a mercantile firm that still operates out of its original building downtown. In 1861, Nathan Bedford Forrest founded Forrest & Company cotton gin andFactories near what is now Benbrook Elementary School; this factory became one of America's most important cotton spinning factories during the Civil War because it produced more cloth than any other company in Texas. In 1865, brothers Isaac Newton (1814-81) and Solomon Northrop (1820-92) began operating a general store at 214 Main Street In 1876, George Wickersham platted what would become Benbrook as land grant to his brother James Wickersham for $1 per acre . The town started off as just a few homes but rapidly grew due to various industrial ventures by early pioneers such as J.A.(John A.)Browning & Sons grocery store founders Denton Ladd (Denton Ladd & Son), Elisha Kapp (Elisha Kapp Coal Mining Railroad), Simeon Dutton (Simeon Dutton Glassblowing Works), Pritchard Harriman Woolen Mills etcetera In 1898 when gold was discovered in West Texas an influx of settlers followed with many businesses opening up including: The First National Bank - opened December 9th 1898; Hargrave Bros Telephone Exchange - February 14th 1899 As oil exploration continued throughout much of Texas during the 1920s there was an increase in traffic through Benbrook which caused some damage to infrastructure such as: First National Bank building which collapsed on October 7th 1926; open water tower built on Main Street between Third Avenue and US 90 bridge which fell down January 8th 1928; Second National Bank building also collapsed on October 7th 1926 However these events did not stop development within Benbrook but rather helped spur growth outside of town during this time period with businesses like Texaco filling up numerous gas stations across town while homebuilders such as Webb Homes started construction aroundtown beginning with several buildings along Third Ave SE

Benbrook is a small town located in Wise County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,568 at the 2000 census. Benbrook was founded in 1892 by George Benbrook and his wife, Rachel. The Benbrooks were farmers who grew corn, tobacco and other crops. In 1902, they built a home on their farm which served as the town's first courthouse. The Benbrook home still stands today and is used as a museum. The town was originally named "Hutchinson" after General James Hutchison who fought in the Mexican-American War and later became a U.S. senator from Colorado. However, when Hutchinson died in 1892 his son George decided to change the name to "Benbrook". The original Benjamin Brook House still stands today and is used as a museum. It has been said that the house may have been designed by architect John Smart of Austin, Texas because it is similar in design to several buildings Smart had designed for himself in Austin prior to moving there permanently in 1886. In 1922, school district No 5 opened up shop in what would become Benbrooktown which included three schools: Hutchinsons School (grades one-12), Springdale School (grades 11-12) and White Sands School (grades Kindergarten through 8th grade). Today those schools are combined into one school District No 2 which serves all of Wise County including Benbrooktown proper as well as parts of Springdale and White Sands townships outside of town limits while also serving students from adjacent rural areas via satellite education services via Internet connections only once per week during periods specified by parents or special programs offered by districts specific to those portions of the county not within our comprehensive system; thus providing consistency with statewide resources for each student’s individual educational needs no matter where he or she lives! On September 26th 1907 an act entitled “An Act To Establish A Township In Wise County And To Grant Land Therefor” was passed by the state legislature giving rise to what would be known as “Benbrook Township” on November 3rd 1907! At its creation township boundaries were defined by landowning citizens rather than legislative boundaries so that future expansions could be made without having to worry about possible conflicts among landowners! Today's community started out small but quickly grew with many people coming from far away for work on big farms around Wichita Falls or Amarillo back then...the railroad brought new life into this area too with people coming down for lunch every day at Pecan Leaf restaurant just across US 96 from where we sit now...It wasn't until I moved here myself around 2010 that I really got interested in this place...I loved learning about mtbiking history here back then so I knew some things about where everything came from
Benbrook was founded in 1879 by David Benbrook. The town became a post-office in 1887, and a railroad station in 1901. In 1916, the United States Post Office moved from downtown to Benbrook. The first school in Benbrook was built in 1912. Benbrook is home to the Texas A&M Aggie football team and the Texas Longhorn baseball team.
