Boerne, Texas is a town located in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. The population was 26,971 at the 2010 census. Boerne is part of the Matamoros-Tamaulipas Metropolitan Statistical Area. The site of present-day Boerne was first inhabited by Native American people known as the Tejas. Spanish traders and travelers visited this area in the 1600s and early 1800s, and noted that there was a market here for goods from Mexico City. In 1836, Antonio López de Santa Anna issued an order establishing jurisdiction over parts of what are now Tamaulipas and Nuevo León; Boerne became part of this new jurisdiction. In 1848, General Antonio Lopez Bonilla ordered all Native Americans living east of San José River to leave or be driven out; this order led to a series of conflicts between Apache and Mexican forces over land ownership and resources. Many Tejas were killed or forced into exile as a result of these hostilities. By 1850, only about 10 percent of the original Tejas remained in Bexar County; most had migrated to Chihuahua or other states in southern Mexico. Meanwhile, Christian settlers began arriving in Bexar County beginning in earnest during the late 19th century: some came through Carranza’s army when it invaded Veracruz duringiva’s War on April 25–27, 1865 (the day after Texas achieved its independence from Mexico), while others arrived as refugees following decisions made by Governor Anastasio Juárez during his administration (1867–1870). By 1870, there were more than 1,500 Christians living in Bexar County; many had come from Camargo Parish near Reynosa and Pembroke Pines north of San Antonio. Anglo Texans began arriving en masse elsewhere in Texas during Reconstruction (1868–1879) after Ulysses S., Grant’s victorious Army took control following Taylor’s surrender at Appomattox Court House on April 9, 1865—a event that has been described as one of history’s most significant turning points within America itself. One consequence of these arrivals was that numbers among Hispanic residents increased dramatically: by 1880, Hispanics constituted almost 30 percent (and eventually 45 percent)of Bexar County’s population! At various times throughout their residency here—including periods characterized by political instability or economic hardship—the burgeoning Hispanic community clashed with Anglos over issues such as school funding (adopting “mixed race” children), housing discrimination against Latinos,[5] labor rights,[6][7] access to education[8], language teaching opportunities for Latino students,[9] public health care provision[10], and social tensions related to cultural assimilation.[11][12][13][14][15] As river otters declined due to hunting pressure combined with pollution caused by agriculture operations – another consequence both direct and indirect results of frontier settlement – water shortages became increasingly important problems for local farmers dating back to around 1900.[16] A number watershed boundary changes resulting from various environmental factors also occurred throughout much Oficina Soberano d'Huelga's tenure including adjustments affecting Comal Co., Llano Co., Arroyo Seco & Mier Co., Hidalgo Co., Frio & Rio Grande Ríos valley; finally a final adjustment affecting Starr Co.--all within Jurisdiction 2--were completed on March 8th 1996 effective date thereof Comprehensive Plan Amendment No.............. 15 document file name not found
