The National Guard in Borger, Texas has been a part of the community since it was organized on September 16, 1911. The first unit to arrive in town was the Fifty-Third Texas Infantry Regiment which arrived on October 2. It was not until 1913 that the Guards began mobilizing for war. On November 5th, 1913, President Woodrow Wilson declared a state of emergency and called up all National Guard units in the state. At this time there were only militia companies and battalions available to serve as national guard units in Texas. The first regiment mobilized under Commander Wm Hays Mowery with Company I arriving on November 10th at Lubbock. The unit served honorably throughout World War I and during World War II also formed part of Operation Neptune’s Spear which invaded Japanese-occupied Philippines. In 1965 the National Guard detachment from Borger was reorganized into a battalion under command of Major General Jerald Fenton with Headquarters located at Lubbock AFB. In 1990 an additional battalion (the 323rd Battalion) was activated providing equipment support services for Army Reserve forces in Red River County alone! Today the National Guard detachment from Borger consists of over 1,000 honorable men and women who are dedicated to their community service through leadership roles within our military organizations as well as civilian activities such as golf outings, festival participation or Serve Our Country Day events!

Borger, Texas is a city located in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 8,912 at the 2010 census. Borger is part of the Corpus Christi-Houston metropolitan area and is bordered by Houston to the south and east, San Antonio to the north, and Galveston County to the west. The town was named after General John T. Borger, who had been a major general during World War I. The first building in town was built in 1903 on what is now Main Street. In 1910, Borger became a city with its own government under chapter 10 of the Texas Constitution. The first mayor was Hosea Purdy and the first councilmember were James Waddell and John Broughton Jr.. In 1931, a new courthouse was built on Main Street which served as the town hall until it burned down in 1984. The current courthouse replaced it in 2004. In 1925, President Calvin Coolidge gave land for what is now State Highway 183 to be developed into an open-air mall called "The Open Air". It never happened because developers canceled their deals before they could build anything even close to resembling an open air mall. In 1954, American Electric Power started construction on what would become one of their largest power plants in America when they acquired two adjacent parcels from Gulf Oil Corporation for $4 million dollars$. That same year also saw construction begin on Bob Hope Airport which would eventually become one ofCorpus Christi's most important airport destinations with over 100 million passengers traveling through its doors each year (today only Joint Base San Antonio– Clear Lake serves as that airport). In 1966, Midland Airlines merged with Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport creating Americas First International Airport serving both cities making it possible for Midland Airlines customers from both cities to travel together without having to go through TXA or DFW airports respectively! Borger has seen some amazing changes over time including becoming home to Southwestern Baptist University (SWBU), which opened its main campus here in 1987; Brazos Valley College (now known as Baylor University), which moved here from Nacogdoches; Lone Star Performance Racing School (now known as Sam Houston Racecourse), which opened its doors here in 2002; and finally KPRCChannel 11 Newsroom relocated here from downtown Houston after being displaced by Hurricane Harvey!
The National Guard has been a part of the United States since 1776. The Guard provides law enforcement, military support and emergency response to the citizens of the US. The Guard also educates children in patriotic values and how to serve their country. In 1881, President George Washington authorized the creation of a national guard system in order to provide for security during peacetime. In 1915, Congress passed the National Defense Act which created an army-navy brigade force with 5000 officers and men divided into regiments of 10 companies each. On July 15th 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed into lawthe Organic Act that created the Army Reserve. This act gave nearly all citizens access to military service by enrolling them in one or more reserve battalions (later brigades) within two months after mobilization was ordered. On November 8th 1920, President Warren G Harding signed into lawthe National Defense Authorization Act which provided for an active army at $25 million dollars per year and 5% annual inflation adjustments throughout its duration; this was known as “The Smoot-Hawley Tariff” because it raised tariffs on many items imported from Europe). This act designated 1st Infantry Division as the first American unit activated overseas under World War I on April 6th 1917 (7 years earlier than planned). This legislation also established a Permanent Military Forces Administration which organized armies across continental US so they could be ready for war when called upon; this organization became known as The Pentagon Program later on. In 1940, due to World War II there was an increase in soldiers stationed abroad due to increased tensions between America and Germany over resources & trade issues; this led to increased troop strength in America while decreasing troops stationed domestically.. As tensions continued decline after 1945 however there were large increases in troops nationwide including 2nd Infantry Division activated soon afterwards (on October 30th 1946) at Fort Benning Georgia after being reactivated from The Navy Reserve prior to that date.. By 1960 there were over 100 Active duty National Guardsmen serving per state! There is no set history or timeline for gift giving specifically within the National Guard though some traditions may have started sooner while others may have taken longer – ultimately it is up to individual members/families who are familiar with their units gift history decide what constitutes a “National Guard” gift! One example where tradition does exist is birthday gifts which are typically sent directly from unit members rather than via mail or email; unfortunately too often these gifts are not well received by either individuals or their families especially if not sent during a momentsous occasion such as someone’s birthday! It can be nice however for family gatherings or special occasions when everyone can contribute something different related Service History etc.– something that truly shows appreciation!
On September 11, 2001, the United States national guard was activated to respond to the terrorist attacks that took place in New York City and Washington D.C. The Guard was authorized by President George W. Bush on October 1, 2001. The first National Guard unit to arrive in response to the attacks was the 2nd Battalion, 9th Regiment ( climbed out of their helicopters at Andrews Air Force Base) The Guard has been deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom andOperation Enduring Freedom since November 2003. On December 12, 2004, elements of the Guard were sent into Baghdad as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom Inherent Resolve Since then there have been deployments for Christmas season deployments across the United States including deployments to Florida Keys and Puerto Rico In Fiscal Year 2018 there were over 300 Soldiers from throughout the country mobilized for two monthsDeployment ended on February 14th
Borger, Texas is a small town in the Midwestern United States located in Hudspeth County. The population was 5,906 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area. The Borger community dates back to 1876 when cattle cards were issued and sold here. In 1907, the first electricity was brought to this area with a power substation built near present day Highway 83. The community has grown steadily since then with many new businesses and homes opening up throughout the years. Today, Borger is known for its agriculture and ranching industries as well as its unique history which includes being one of only two towns in Texas that still allows women to vote and hold office.
Borger, Texas was founded in 1881 by John D. Borger and his brother-in-law, James A. Shaver. The town was named for John Borger's father, George Borger, who had settled in the area in 1851. The town began to grow rapidly after it was platted in 1881, and by 1886 it had a population of 350 people. After becoming a county seat in 1893, Borger continued to grow rapidly, with its population reaching 1,100 by 1907. In 1916 the town became an independent municipality under the name of Borger County. In 1924 the county merged with neighboring Williamson County to form McLennan County.
