Brenham, Texas is a small town in the heart of the Hill Country of central Texas. The population was 5,890 at the 2010 census and has grown rapidly since then, reaching 10,022 as of July 2014. The Brenham Coffee Company was founded in 1912 by J.P. Stevens and his brothers. It became one of the larger coffee companies in TX before merging with Peet's Coffee in 1984. The company continued to grow under new ownership until it merged with Starbucks in 2011. Today, Brenham Coffee is a subsidiary of Starbucks Corporation and its products are distributed throughout North America and internationally. Brenham's history can be traced back to 1845 when an entrepreneur named John Wesley Powell discovered gold near what would become Brenham. He named his property "Brenham" after his discovery and started to build a small community here to support himself and his family. In 1912, J P Stevens founded the Brenham Coffee Company on this site, which he soon grew into one of TX's largest coffee companies with over 100 employees (and up to 12 stores). In 1984, Peet's Coffee purchased Brenham Coffee from Stevens for $30 million dollars - making it the first-ever US acquisition by an international coffee company. In 1911 John Wesley Powell organized a group of Texans who traveled eastward along I-10 for a series of meetings that would lead to the founding of OPEC (the Organization for Petroleum Exporting Countries). At these meetings Powell met representatives from several oil companies who convinced him that there was much potential forTexaco oil production within Texas if they could find an appropriate location - specifically in BrenHAM! This led to Texaco purchasing BrenHAM Coffee from Stevens for $30 million dollars just two years later! Today, we still operate our original store located downtown on Elm Street - Kosher Parlor #1 - which opened December 6th 1961! We've been here ever since! Our current store building opened on October 2nd 2013 - adjacent to our old store building but across Elm Street from our original store! And finally...our newest store opening today on Main Street just north of Highway 290!!!

Brenham is a small town in Johnson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,471 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. Brenham is named after Reverend George W. Brenham who first preached there in 1881. The first settlers in Brenham were white men from Kentucky and Tennessee. They came to the area in the 1840s to prospect for oil and other natural resources. In 1851, a group of Methodist ministers founded what would become known as First Baptist Church in Brenham. In 1865, John Ahern settled in Brenham with his wife and five children after fleeing Missouri during the American Civil War. In 1870, James Hargrave moved to Brenham from Archer City near Dallas and began buying land here for farming purposes. By 1888, Hargrave had built several homes and begun operation of a gristmill that he named "Hargrave Bros." Mill #1 which continued until 1926 when it was sold to Roy Pritchard Jr., an entrepreneur who operated it as Pritchard's Grains & Flour Mill until 1990 when it closed down due to heavy losses). In 1919, rancher John (Jack) Clements bought 10 acres southeast of downtown BrenHAM from Jensius Oestergaard for $2 per acre ($10 per lot). Clements developed this property into one of central Texas' most important cotton farms by adding irrigation systems and large tracts of land irrigated with canals using water diverted from local rivers. Clements' farm produced some of the mostsignificant cotton exports in Texas during World War II because its bolls were resistant to insecticides used on other crops; however, much later Hurricane Ike destroyed much of his crop while also damaging many other buildings on his farm including his house which still stands today at 627 South Main Street within walking distance of his original tenant barn located just north-west on Highway 183 about 2 miles south-east of downtown BrenHAM
