In 1912, Jensen founded Parkland Arms Company which eventually became known as Brownells Firearms Company Limited. Brownells Firearms Company manufactured many different types of firearms including handguns, shotguns, rifle cartridges and even bows! From 1912-1927, Brownells Firearms Company produced pistols under license from Colt Industries Incorporated (now Glock) USF&I International Ltd., while other products such as rifles (including models 1903-1906), shotgun cartridges (ejection rounds included), ammunition (including both centerfire round types fired through pump action shotguns) and Bows belonged exclusively to Parkland Arms Company Limited. Canyon is a small town in Johnson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,752 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. Canyon grew up around the Apache Trail and cattle drives that ran through the area. For many years it was thought to be one of the first towns in Texas founded by Native Americans. The town started as a stagecoach stop on the Apache Trail in 1876 when settlers rode out from Fort Worth to look for new land to ranch. In 1909, Fenton Murchison built a store and post office in what is now Canyon. By 1912, there were five stores and 15 homes in Canyon. By 1916, there were 10 stores and 30 homes in Canyon with an estimated population of 100 people. In 1933, all of Johnson County was annexed by Dallas into the newly formed city of Dallas. However, because Canyon was withinDallas's limits but not within its boundaries (the southern boundary being Elmendorf Road), it continued to be known as "Canyon" despite having no connection to or relationship with Dallas whatsoever other than name-calling. As a result of this situation, most residents continued to refer to themselves as "Canyonians." In 1984, however, Mayor Pro Tem Dan Patrick renamed both Logan International Airport and Cowboys Stadium "Derek Carr Field/Campus Drive" after then- Jaguar Racing driver Derek Carr who attended Baylor University nearby. This change made full use of canyon's ZIP code which began with 87210 due to its single community suffix: 87210 + 10 = 087210 In 2001-2002 developer Harry Hardesty began developing what would become River North Village which had plans for over 700 housing units across three blocks totaling 2 acres (100 meters²). Plans called for demolishing existing buildings along Elmendorf Road between Northwest Freeway and Southwest Boulevard while creating new streetscape that would feature laneways leading away from downtown areas
Canyon is located in west-central Texas and was founded by the Comanche nation on November 3, 1836. The town was named for the canyon itself, which ran along the eastern border of present day Canyon County. In 1855, when Mexico lost its war with Britain, it ceded this area to the United States as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. The U.S. built a military post at Canyon in 1856 and later an arsenal and stockade in 1861. In 1870, Canyon became a county seat after it was chosen over nearby Pecos because of its location near railroad lines and irrigation canals.
